Did you know that this meet has been going on for like 10 years, and that they use to have an ad in the Marietta paper about it saying that ANY car enthusiasts are welcome? They had an ad on the freaking newspaper, it's not some "secret" meet. What could ruin it is not riced out cars, its the shady ass thug wannabe people on here that we see at the varsity.

The best meets ARE advertised in the papers. Many of the charity events and most of the local manufacturer car clubs advertise their monthly meets in the wheels section of the AJC. How many people that go to the Varsity read the newspaper? lol!

I saw 2 different cars come through blasting their stereo's today. It's true the early hour meet is going to prevent most of it though. As long as everyone is considerate to the people and cars I don't care who is there. BUT then you have pictures of license plates popping up everywhere and many of the owners would prefer certain things to be private. A congested gathering WILL run off many of the exotic car owners to where they won't want to come back.

LOL maybe you havent been there the past 3 months... its been the most crowded ive ever seen it flowing into both sides of the parking lot, and flooded with amazing cars. I have seen maybe 2 examples of rice at this congested gathering and the exotics seem to still keep coming back...

Do you think moderately wealthy people are that concerned about the cars? Most will have more than sufficient insurance to cover them! It's personal and privacy issues: it's them and their family. Not everyone goes to a car gathering to be photographed with their car and have their identity and license plate posted all over the internet. I can not conceive how anyone can find this acceptable.

Not so hypothetical situation. Photos of an exotic or collectible car is posted with the license plate visible, maybe the owner is visible in it as well. An ex-business partner gone sour, stalker, or kidnapper runs the plate on any of the numerous websites that will give the owners name and address for a fee. Other than California anyone can get information from the DMV as well simply by filling out a form, or you can file a hit-and-run on a particular license plate and for a few bucks have a police report that will most likely contain the "suspects" information. The easiest is online though. Now that someone has the owners information they plan a kidnapping of the owners wife or child, or worse. Why do you think reality shows blur license plates? People have been murdered using DMV information, specifically a young actress in California in 1989. Television producers do not want that liability, and neither do photographers. Imagine the name of the specific website photos were posted on coming up in trial for the death of someone? Who wants to live with that? Is it a likely situation? No. Has it happened before? Yes.

What's stops someone from just going to the meet after they see pictures of it and write down or take photos of the plates themselves? Nothing. What stops someone from staking out a high-end establishment and stalking someone? Nothing. But why provide the entire world someone else's information without their knowledge or approval?

Thanks, but my car is really the caliber of those. This would be more of a meet I would try and take my dad's car to (if he'd let me drive it that is)

ugh. ever since IA found out about this meet and picstures have been posted up. More and more ricers and people from IA have been showing up. espeically the guy with a SC300 large single racing through the parking lot like a V or gwinnett meet.

Shut the fuck up. If it bothers you that much don't fucking go. Just stop god damn bitching every time there is a thread about this meet. I was there for four hours and didn't see anyone doing anything dumber than the kid in the black Lambo dropping his car into second and piping off a cop on Johnson Ferry.

That was am unnecessary comment. Do you think that make you cool or special? There is nothing wrong with postinng pics here...it's not that serious. Anyone who googles caffeine and octane can find the location. It is already public knowledge so get over it. Whether the meet will be ruined depends on the ppl that go and act dumb, not on whether pucs are uploaded to IA or not.

i did not post it to make myself look oh so cool to IA. i made to show people that i know someone that knows whats going on in detail with the meet. he gets all the flack when people start staying late and taking up spots for the shops and for the noise. he said to me at two different meets that we are on thin ice. because of people racing by, people showing off their loud exhaust and other stuff.

yes your right about public knowledge. its the fact the most of IA doesnt have the caliber or maturity level to come to a meet like this. we dont need people looking at the pics and thinking "oh man i want to go to the next one." and when they come they think its another Barret, BP, or Sonic meet doing burnouts and racing through the parking loud and stuff. so in turn them knowing can in turn mean the might come and ruin the meet.

It's common sense. The more places it's posted the more people that show up. Depending where it gets posted with the most publicity is what is going to draw the most people. There's a HUGE difference between the people that see it on the Ferrari and Porsche forums vs. those that see it on here. Overall it's two totally different crowds. If people here didn't know the meet existed then how would you expect them to look the name up?

Uhh, I don't see what can be done with someone's license plate... Thousands of people see it when you drive your car, and the cars that have their plates showing are rarely driven.

It's common courtesy not to post any photos of their license plates or the car owners themselves without their permission. A car photo without the license plate showing means the car can't be identified, with the plate available someone can put a name to the car if they really wanted to. Many owners would rather remain anonymous.

LOL I have been and sorry to inform you but there was only 4 cars on other side of the parking lot this month. I'm going to attribute that to the colder weather more than anything.

    1) Not like anyone can read your tag anyways.

    2) There's a huge difference between a glimpse of it every once in a while as it drives around vs. a photo of it recording it and being posted on the internet to be viewed by millions of people, explicitly categorized with local exotic cars.
