That hurts my feelings a little bit. I would have given $4500 for any of those, honestly. Especially the Typhoon. lolol

Yeah I think the Typhoon was one of the rarest up there. That's about the only one I would have wanted to actually own and maintain.

How would a CRX have been crushed? They had to be under 18mpg?

That list says that those cars are not necessarily reviewed or approved, e.g. somebody ain't gettin' paid for the CRX.

Yeah that's what I meant. I thought it had to be at most 18 to qualify for the program?

Cause I ran my s10, and it had 19mpg, and didn't qualify. And I was looking to buy an insight.

    Your trade-in vehicle must:
    • have been manufactured less than 25 years before the date you trade it in and, in the case of a category 3 vehicle, must also have been manufactured not later than model year 2001
    • have a "new" combined city/highway fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon or less
    • be in drivable condition
    • be continuously insured and registered to the same owner for the full year preceding the trade-in

    Dealerships effed up.

Or just went ahead and made the deal, knowing it might not work out. If the deal was contingent on that trade-in, they may have just factored the $3k-$4k into the final price.

Damn this is horrible. Cash for clunkers are making a generation of cars extinct. Is there a way to purchase a car before it is destroyed? My dad had an 850 when I was a kid and that shit was awesome. I used to sit on his lap and drive it around the neighborhood not knowing what a bad ass car it really was....sigh.

The dumbest fn way ever to buy a new car. They could have sold all those cars at auction and owed china less money, not to mention all the little dealerships and junkyards could be making money off them. It coulda been a win win for the economy but instead it was a quick way to sucker people into buying a new car so they can roll out new models and end of the year sales and all the tools can think wow, the govt helped me get a new car, I love them. Good luck finding a decent priced used car now, or used parts from a junk yard.

Actually, Pull-A-Part, gets a bunch of clunkers in. I go up there almost daily and I know that they get at least 10 per day. So its not like we totally get out of the deal.

Not true. 2 different places wouldnt accept our 94 Pontiac Bonneville because it gets like 22mpg with mixed driving. They said the MPG that was rated by the EPA is the number they go by and it had to be <18mpg
