i love this stuff. if i was rich i would go around buying old show cars/trucks and fixing them up. no telling how many multi-rear axle trucks are sitting in a garage somewhere. i love the minitruckin from the 70's and 80's also.

Awesome. I've always wondered what the early car scene was like. Cool stuff man.

I went to several godfather shows back then also, i was in high school and thought if i could only get some deep dish hammers or eagle 5's! wasn't much to choose from back then for custom rimz.

ill see if i can find some pics and scan them also.

These days were the shit. People have mentioned (in this thread) that, for the most part in the mini-trucking scene, styles really haven't changed much. You're pretty much right. There's only so much you can do to a truck. But these pics were taken in a time when all this was brand new and innovative. The dump truck bed and then tilting it to the side was just coming into play around this time. The "truxterossa" kit was brand new as well. Later, QD.

I'm pretty sure I was there. I remember the truck with the paint "splotches"... I thought it was ugly back then. I wanted a "Ratical" targa top conversion for my Nissan extended cab soooooo bad. But I couldn't afford it

LOL I was there too. I was a little kid but I remember walking around with the older kids in my neighborhood that all had mini trucks. I would help them sand their dashes after school. Rolled up in a lime green Mazda on bags and subs so loud I couldn't breathe hardly. This was before people would put cotton underneath the wheels at the show too.

If you see the "ROADWAY" truck trailor in the background you know where it is. Shit was there forever. Red hatch and the purple Toyota are still cool as hell even by todays standard.

Old school for sure. Thanks for dusting these off.

Also did you notice the AMOCO station in the background? Best gas ever.

It was a great time to be a car enthusiast. I just recently found out where an originally built (in 1991) trucksterosa is. And it's for sale.

Correction. Everything else is pure originality.
Originality does not change the meaning of "rice" in my book.

Guess that just goes with "rice" having multiple meanings. I personally don't see where "rice" applies to a completely different time period and genre of modifying. And I'm quite sure I'm not alone.

But it's all good, my friend. We're all allowed our opinions...............

That was the style at the time. I'm sure people will look back at this hellaflush crap that is popular today and say that's rice as well.

i am with you on this, also i thought the term "ricer" came from people calling any japan based car a "rice burner" so to me i dont care what your civic,integra,s2000,tsx or any other japan based car looks like. your all a "ricer".

I wouldnt call it rice but like QD said its just a different time of car and truck modding, What i call rice is what you would find in the WTF section and this isnt there.

Those were big, but we used to meet up at the Kmart on Canton Hwy long before that. Both of those were packed out back then.
