Default Audi & BMW ad war taken to the streets of SoCal: Why cant this be in the ATL?

check page #2 for the real lawls

    Autoblog...

Autoblog reader Conor sent us this photo of Santa Monica Blvd. in Southern California where a billboard advertising the new Audi A4 has apparently been up for months. The ad throws down a gauntlet at the feet of BMW with an image of the new A4 and the statement, "Your move, BMW." Whether by design or by happenstance, the Munich-based brand recently made its move, hoisting up a billboard across the street that displays the high-performance M3 and the word "Checkmate." Ouch. We're sure Audi will have more to say when the RS4/5 arrives sometime in the near future, but for now, BMW appears to have the final word in this billboard chess match.

As you'll likely remember, these two brands are no strangers to duking it out with each other in advertisements, having gone toe-to-toe with each other and Subaru in late 2006 over which brand had the most prestigious "Of the Year" award. Thanks for the tip, Conor.

That is amazing. I've never been much for bmw's but that may be due to the fact that ive never driven one, where as I've driven an R8 and as of last weekend, an S5.

haha, they got a sense of humor, but BMW FTW, They no longer for blokes. lol
Honda are popular for a reason. There might be faster car out there, but none as consistent.

That Audi billboard is in Atlanta. I see it everyday going to work. Take 85N then 285W and you will see it. BMW has a response to that billboard also off of 85N right outside of the connector. I forgot what it actually says, but you know it's a response to the Audi billboard.

Actually, it would have to say "Baby"

And put the VW Phaeton up at the top.

    Then the Bentley Continental.

Then the Lamborghini Gallardo, then finally we could put the Veyron which would never have happened without every one of those cars. Phaeton for the basic underpinnings of the W-engine cars, Bentley for Turbocharging those W's and showing what they could do, the Gallardo for providing the beginning of the platform for both the Veyron, the R8 and several concept/racecars (Which form the begginings of the Veyron I believe.)

So I think, when it all comes down to it, you could set that billboard up right behind the BMW "Checkmate" billboard and simply go "Oh. Really?"
