Cool pics.. Is that the Peter Gregg 934.8 in your sig?

It's actually the 1974 Porsche 911 RSR Turbo driven by Herbert Müller and Gijs van Lennep to second overall in the 1974 Le Mans 24 and WSC season.Originally Posted by jcbe34
You are very close on the years though. They won the Daytona 24 in 1973 with a standard RSR againsts the sport racing cars.
Gregg and Haywood drove for Brumos Porsche while the 911 RSR Turbo was run as a prototype with Martini racing.
Yeah I think the 934.8 was '76 or '77.. My dad told me the story about the car, he was @ Road Atlanta when the car was banned after qualifying. Amazing stuff considering this was in the 70's.Originally Posted by EJ25RUN

I try to think that this was the era when Turbo charging really began and it was with Porsche. I mean, i can't think of a race car pre 917/10 that was turbo charged. Its like the era started and went straight to 1000+ hp. The choose the turbo over a 16 cylinder 917.Originally Posted by jcbe34

Sure thing. This is one of those things Toyota and TTE want us to forget. Just four years later, the Corolla WRC won the manu championship so they got back on the right track.Originally Posted by G.C
wow, great info man
some clever innovations from toyota, although it was dirty, everyone's looking for an edge on the competition
That's what im getting out of it and i dont think Toyota was alone. They just go caught. I really hope they return to the sport as a factory team. Toyota rally history ranks up there with Lancia, Audi, and Subaru.Originally Posted by atlxpat
very interesting. That car looks beastly!
Damn, that would be fun!
i hope he made it out of that mud

Group A wise...definetly. The Escort Cosworth, Celica GT4, Lancia Delta Integrale.Originally Posted by JITB
