Default One of my favorites from Europe. Renault 5 GT Turbo

It isn't as famous as the mid engined Renault 5 Turbo, but this was the Honda civic of Europe.

Almost all of these were modifed (or ruined) by tuner crowd. It's still a great all around car imo.

It even won the 1989 & 1990 production WRC World Championship.

The driver was Alain Oreille and the blue one was a special edition Renault did to honor him.

It was on Fifth Gear's latest episode *Click to watch*

It essentially has the same lines as the Civic hatch from the late 80s/early 90ss, but I bet you would "rock that" with no problem.
Damn Honda fanboys are full of shit lol

I think the Renault looks better.

I'll tell you. One of the best movie car chases in history.

Never say Never again, James Bond. Renault R5 Turbo Vs Bond on the bike. Good stuff man. Fell in love with those cars then.

I'm pretty sure the Maxi (Rally Renault 5 Turbo) was only RWD. This is how it was able to compete with the later 4wd cars around tarmac rallies. It won the "Monte" in 1981.

The only "4wd" version i know off, was the strange "6x6" used in the 1980 Dakar rally.

Is there some rallycross version i don't know about with 4wd?

Pretty much although it was powered by a pretty poor engine.

Turbocharged 1397 cc pushrod I4, two valves per cylinder.

This "Clιon" engine was used by Renault since the 50's. To add, the turbo had bad turbo lag and made 118 hp in second gen (Phase II) form of the 5 GT Turbo.
