Lokks more FDish which is good. The first picture is obviously an FD photoshop. The door handles and canopy are the same.
All those pics are speculation and have no credit to them.
To get the best hint, you'd have to look at what Mazda concepts currently look like. I'm thinking the next Japanese motor show is where the RX9 will be revealed.

Real question is can they get the direct inject down on the Rotary? If they can do that, than the emissions will be lower and possibly be able to turbo it. That was one of the killers of the RX7 in the US in 96. They switched to the OBD II emission standards.
Second, why would you choose a convertible in a handling car? Added weight and probably losing the 50/50 the RX models have been known for. I know they had them pre-FD.
i hope its not going to be a disappointment again, like how the rx8 was

I guarantee you if they make this car, it will NOT look like the first picture you posted. That was some random speculative photoshop artist combining the old RX-7 and a mazda 6 front end(or 3 idk). I do not doubt that it will look similar to the following set of pictures. That is not an unrealistic concept car. In fact it varies little in styling terms from the RX-8. It looks to me like they want to make a hatch-back-esque RX-8. lol, whatever happens it will not satisfy my wants nor replace the epic car we knew as the RX-7.

So you are saying that an overweight chassis could compare with the best Japanese chassis from the 1990's?
A 20b can easily swap into a FD so just cause you want more rotors isn't an issue.
To give you an idea, i'm seeing this as comparing an S2000 to a SC430.

lol I only say this cause I'm not that impressed with the FD as everyone else is, its a phenominal car don't get me wrong. I probably say this cause we have one in the garage, but for over all interior, look, power i like the cosmo better.

they could definately top the 3rd gen FD, they're just gonna have to really think it out. I say 20B non-turbo that motha lova. big turbo + rotors = god awful fast for 20k miles. I seriously doubt Mazda wants another hit like they took with the FD.
20B = fail emissions. Won't happen in the US.

Sometime it is ok to make these remarks if you have some what of a good "relationship" with the person.
If you want my real opinion on this car, I see it as a fail. It will not sell many units and will not perform as well as the FC or FD (comparing them to the time that they were released.
