love the car.. hate the color!

The color is much better in person. The cell phone kinda makes it look milky.
I really really wish those had a standard transmission.
ouch @ pricetag. looks good though. what do you do at Mitsu? I just got hired at Subie haha.
OUCH! that price tag, it may sit there for ..... ever.
holy sh*t, $41k? ehh....![]()
I like the blue better for some reason.... but ballin car none the less

Cool. Though I'm not too impressed with it since all reviews have noted its slightly slower than the standard Evo X ( and heavier )

Wow......$41K for a Evo![]()
Dont know how we got from something as raw as the GVR4 to the Evo 1 and then that. I'm sure it performs but man it doesnt have the presence of the older ones. Looks like a TSX for sure.
I'd say they got it right on the first try.
Looks good. Needs to be manual though
That is one sexy Evo. I really like the phantom black MR. Ah well, I will have to settle for my VIII.
im not gonna lie i hate it.
but i would like to drive one to see what there like
Im a evo fan this round... maybe when the subbie changes body style again.. ill switch teams...lol
LMAO@ Mitsush!tty
What a [overpriced] pile of sh!t.

not really understanding the transmission...so basically its an automatic but then u can put it into manual mode like a tiptronic transmission? if thats the case...boring...
How the hell they gonna strap that to a auto tranny?

it is a automated manual transmission. It is very impressive as a transmission. The X's are made in manuals, they are called GSR's where as this is a MR. The car is a few hundred pounds heavier, but with the yaw, acd, traction control and the intellegant shifting of the transmission make the car much faster
and for the haters. I did not like the new Evo's at all. I love my Evo 8. It has the soul of what a factory race car should be, brutally harsh. With the new Evo, I didnt feel the racing spirit in the GSR's, but with this new MR, it really wakes up. Just do 1 drag launch in this car and let the computer do the shifting for you once launched, you will understand.
this car can go thru turns faster than what you think you can. I went thru a loop on the highway in my car at 50-55 mph at which my 8 would start pushing and get tire squeal. But with the MR, first time thru, i was able to carry 71+ from start to finish with minimum squeal from the tires and ZERO push. The car wanted me to go faster. If it were mine and I had ran it thru the turn 2 or 3 more times, I am fully confident that it could carry 80-90+ thru the loop.
wow, i can't even describe how much i hate that car. I love the x but that one looks awful to me. The only ones i have seen and liked have been lowered and white LOL. I'm just not a fan of that color or price tag. Seems like the GSR model is the way to go.

the gsr is only a few thousand less. a stripped down gsr is still going to run you 36ish and up. Aero packaged GSR with the SSS package is 38 almost 39
x gsr w/ sss - no aero & no naviOriginally Posted by sabastian458

like i said earlier. the crappy cell phone pix do not do this color justice. It is actually a fairly nice color. Granted I will agree lowering would be better, but it already has the ebochi (i know i didnt spell that right, someone correct me please) springs on it, so why change?
everything was sex until the i saw auto
yeahhhhhh you likeeeee when she does thattttttt

I can't say for sure on VW's SMT but I know for a fact that BMW's SMG/SMG II and Ferrari's F1 it's the exact same transmission as their manual, the only difference is the clutch slave cylinder is replaced by a computer controlled [electro] hydraulic actuators (plus the shift linkage is automated too). Instead of pushing a pedal to force the fluid to disengage the clutch then releasing the clutch pedal to engage the clutch the computer does it faster than a human ever could...
BMW SMG II (M3 E46) - 80 ms
Ferrari F1 (Maserati 4200GT) - 80 ms
Ferrari F1 (360 F1) - 150 ms
Ferrari F1 (Enzo) - 150 ms
Ferrari F1 (575M) - 220 ms
BMW SMG (M3 E36) - 220 ms
Aston Martin Vanquish - 250 ms
The twin disc transmission like the EVO's SST (Getrag), VW's DSG (BorgWarner), BMW's DCT (Getrag), the Nissan GT-R's transmission (Getrag), etc. are supposedly as fast as 8ms between gears....or 10 times faster than BMW's SMG II. Basically it's two transmissions combined into one compact unit, one clutch is for 1st, 3rd, and 5th and the second clutch is for 2nd, 4th, and 6th...
When you are in first gear the "2nd transmission" is in 2nd, then it seamlessly switches "transmissions" and when you're in 2nd the 1st shaft is in 3rd waiting for you to shift again. When you're in 3rd gear the 2nd shaft has 4th gear waiting, etc...but what if you don't upshift? Maybe you need to quickly downshift instead? The computer senses from the RPM's what gear will be next and prepares for it on the other shaft. Technical yes. Faster than a standard transmission, yes. More reliable and less moving parts than a regular automatic, yes.
With a standard transmission, as well as the original automated manuals like SMG or F1, as you're shifting gears 100% of the power to the wheels is lost: 100% power to 0% power back to 100% power. The new twin clutch transmissions however have virtually 100% of the power going to the wheels at 100% of the time. You can't get a faster or smoother shift than that in a performance car.
Do I like it? Eh, I like the connection of driver, car, and road...nothing calms me more than running through the H pattern in car or sequential shifter on a bike. However, smoothness and quickness is what wins races. This is the direction cars are going and one day we'll have race car drivers that have never operated a clutch with their foot. They'll be wondering what that 3rd pedal is for, lol.

looks pretty good to me. but 40k kind of pricey. It will go down in few years tho.
:idb:
holy hell, that thing was expensive!!! Looks good though and seems to have some pretty neat features. Congrats.
I like it, but for 41k I would keep my IX.

Thank you for explaining in detail about the transmission. I didnt want to go that far into it.![]()
IMOP i think the price tag is worth it. You just have to drive one to understand. The transmission is super fast and already knows where to shift before you do. It even engine brakes for you too
Good thing most the dealers around these parts are taking 1-2 grand under MSRP

that thing is the fugliest car ive seen for 41k
They are not taking 1-2 k under MSRP for the MR editions, maybe for the GSR's.
yup I know becuase I was about to buy one last week, was quoted 33,500 for a loaded GSR or 38,500 for a loaded mr. Navi, stereo, etc... only thing they didn't have was the aero package.
