Default Zoom Fest 2008 (crapload of pics 43 to be exact)

I had a lot of fun. The event was held at Road Atlanta for all Mazdas and Mazda powered vehicles. I enjoyed driving the RE-Speed widebody FB, taking parade laps, and seeing that breathtaking Cosmo Type E. Thought I'd share the pics.

Didn't see a widebody FC, that blue FC with the huge white stripe was widebody. I got to drive it, which was nice. And yes, the Cosmo is pure sex. I learned something I didn't know. Apparently they sold in 1990 with the price tag equivalent to $150,000 USD!And they have an air purifier to keep the air in the cabin fresh (like a built in ionic breeze). It was definitely amazing, they look 30 times better in person.

Aw man, that sucks. You're here in Dekalb too? Well, let's hope Billy throws the event again next year and the Cosmo comes again. It's really a beauty to see in person.

Yeah, it was $5 for 3 swings with a sledge hammer. We raised like $185 to fight breast cancer or something beating the **** out of that Astro van.

    Nice pics.

Too bad the meet ended up being pretty much 10 rotary cars in a field.
The concept of an all Mazda meet is a good one but needs much
better promotion and timing. And, it should include some heavy duty Miata
influence IMHO. I have seen Miata meets held in ATL bring 200-300 cars.
I would imagine their is a bigger rotary audience out there too, they need to be reached.

Proper promotion would take alot more then posting on a few forums.
The real key IMHO is getting the right names involved, and timing.
You have to generate interest and board chatter from general users.
If one could get something going with GRM and the Mitty etc there would likely be some results. One example of timing...this last weekend is too close to Miatas at The Gap to get anyone to travel in from out of the area....even with great promotion that would still give you major problems.

In my opinion, one of the strongest names in local Miatadom is RSpeed.
Their meets have been some of the largest on the east coast....outside of the Gap event.

I would love to see a really good annual Mazda only meet get off the ground.

Indeed you have good points. Hopefully things will work out better next year. This was the first annual. We're hoping it lifts off a bit more. I wasn't involved in setting it up, but I talked with those responsible, and I told them they can use my pictures for promotional use, and I offered to help with any graphic work or photography for next year.

I really want to but I might be getting my 5th and 6th ports worked on that das(or worse, they might call me into work). I would love to come out with you guys soon. Keep me updated on plans man, I'll bring the camera and I'd love to meet even more old-schoolers.

booo for no telephoto lens. If anyone has $575 to spare I will gladly take race pics, however with my 50mm, every picture of the track is just like a gray line with a dot on it(the color of the dot is the color of the car racing)

well my DSLR is my only camera, and I only have 2 lenses. I'd drive myself crazy with a point and shoot. I've used my friend's to take the occasional picture but get so frustrated that picturetaking stops becoming fun. I'd rather enjoy myself and get quality shots. I'd also rather missout on some shots rather than get shots that I'd be too unsatisfied with to post or even look at myself.

also, IndianStig, I am sorry that there were no bad ass cars at Zoom Fest like the one you posted.

HELL YES! suspension, wheels (have to be enkei RPF-1), tires, and exhaust with no cat (so u can shot flames) and you will have a sick DD/ track car

only downside is gas milage... not the best
