Default Quest for 9's... Cage installed

The car has been in Wakeman Oh. at the chassis shop for the past 2 weeks. I did the 5 point cage, powder coated gloss black and couldn't be happier with the results. Thought I would share. I have all the other safety devices being installed so I can legally make some fast passes. I'm adding "some more" power, putting her on a diet and getting ready for the season. I'm very excited to get her back down to Ga. Only after the Buschur crew work their magic.

Before tech. people say you need an 8 point for 9's and a chute for 150+... I already know that... I am going to try to get by with just a 5 point for now without having to put the remaining 3 points in. Plus, I still want to drive this on the street once and a while... like in Mexico.... Fastest pass to date was at 30psi ~550WHP. I went 10.8 @140mph. I had no 1st gear so my 60ft was awful. Hope you enjoy!

That looks like some nice work.

When is it going to be ready for some Mexico fun?

i dont thing that cage would get nhra certified anyway, they didnt even weld all the way around the plates in the back, and also i think you need a 10 point cage for 9.99 or 135 mph which ever comes first. The cage you have will be good for 11.49 to 9.99

I'm new to cages so thanks for the info. I'll have to ask the question about the back plates which seems like a good question. I was just tired of getting kicked out of tracks for not having a cage period... If I dip into the 9's a couple times, I'll be happy. However, at some of these "import" events you don't need a damn thing for safety. I've been to some where they don't even tech and guys run 9's. I'm really not going to compete much, just have fun at some of these local events and in Mexico of course...

Just go run at MMP....you won't even be required to have a cage there. Hell, you could run a 9 sec pass in boardshorts, flip flops, and a dog your back seat and they wouldn't care.

Sounds like Steele too. There was a guy running low 9s on his bike with a helmet and khakis on, lol. Not even a jacket.

I know when I used to go to Commerce, they used to say "What's your best time?" and then would mark you with a number and go. It wasn't a big deal for me since I was in a slow honda, but then there would be way faster cars doing the same thing lol.

But the install does look great!

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

I was putting down ~550-600 @30psi when I ran the 140MPH trap.. I'm running 40+psi now with new parts; making A LOT more than that now. I was just giving reference about the trap speed.

Where are these track you guys are talking about and when are we going...lol

Right now I have the 2.3L and 37R and want to accomplish 9's with that. If that happens quickly in the season I'm switching to a 2.0 and 42R. I'll keep the 2.3/37R I currently have for a roadrace set-up later.

Eh... it's better than being tired of not being able to track the car...to me at least. I'll be putting padding on there as well. This isn't my daily driver.

I don't want to be mean per se but I would not trust that cage for anything. Will that even pass any sort of tech? I hate to rain on your parade but it looks more like a "street fighter" cage as opposed to something that may safe your life.
