    Default Garage-Ito Mid engined RB26 R34 -

    From Kultivate Wordpress

This is a R34 build by Garage Ito for a customer. The car has been designed for Time Attack and should have run during the Revspeed Time Attack challenge on Tsukuba last year.

Unfortunatly it didn’t because the owner of Garage Ito and the customer had a huge fall out. The customer has decided to start up his own tuning company and he will drive the car in it’s name. So it is no longer a Garage Ito car. That was also the reason why it didn’t run on Tsukuba.

I had really loved to see this car take it up against the Mspeed R34. Maybe next year. They were aiming for a 0:53 laptime.

HKS 2.8 stroker kit with a HKS TO4Z Turbo. It is pushing around 700bhp

JDM Option Article on the car with pics.

call me dumb, I don't care... it's considered mid engine because the engine is so far back and behind the front wheels, right? What's the "breaking point" for MR vs FR?

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

It's if the engine sits between the front and rear axles. I found some call it FMR Layout.

    Examples
    Ferrari 599, Ferrari 612, Corvette ZO6, A.M. DB9.

From the pics it doesn't look like the front of the block is behind the axle centerline. Its definately farther back but doesn't look like its behind the axle.

I think you'd have to have a prototype chassis such as the Panoz to call it 100% Mid mounted but as is, cars like this skyline, Ferrari 599, Aston DB9 still have the majority of the motor placed behind the front axle. Otherwise the motor would be too far back and interfere with the interior of the car. In the pics you can see the GT-R seat was pushed back but in a 599 or a DB9 this might make the interior oddly positioned.

I see where you're coming from. I jus generally think of mid engine cars being like the MR2 and NSX. That sort of mid engine.

Your sig slays me by the way.

It's a big mis conception because we usually assume the engine is behind the driver. Again it's called FMR.... It allows a front-engined car to be less front heavy. Another overlooked factor is placeing the transmission in the back with the differential. It's all about trying to achieve the best possible chassis for the race track but at the same time giving you a proper interior.

To give you some idea.... track record is 51.875 in a GT500 Arta NSX.

So if that car could break 53 sec, it would be essentially a street modified car being 1.2 sec off the pace of a GT500 machine.

    That's unreal.

Thanks for the explanations.. I had a feeling it was something to do with behind the axles.

And yes, a street mod car being 1.2 off a GT500 would be freaking sick...
