Default see this is WTF im talkin bout........

If anyone remember a while back i made a complaint asking why people buy nice wheels and put cheap ass tires on them. Well that goes for HIGH performance cars as well. Take this 350. Eh looks like it might have a lil power eh. Look at the front tires. Kumho 711s? Why i dont get it. A tire that is 95% H rated in its range of sizes. When you build a high performance car, this first thing you wanna do is make sure you got the right equipment to roll on. Once again........

doesn't the H stand for speed rating? If you don't plan on going over 130, i dont see the issue with them. i've got 711s on my car right now on my 15s. My 17s are wrapped in pirelli p7000s though. but i've never had an issue with my 15s then again i'm not the kind of person to be doing 130+

yes the H does stand for speed. But the sidewalls are softer on lower speed rated tires. Not just the speed rating but in a tire like the 711. You sacrifice traction, sidewall stiffness, precise steering, wet traction, etc etc

if its a drift car, perfectly understandable - cheap tires = less money burned... literally

Ever think that they may just have them on for off-the-track purposes?

The car's on a dyno, not Road Atlanta.

i am pretty sure that those tires can do pretty good in road Atlanta with that car if they were new i dont really see why not its not like he is pushing 700hp of the line to run 8's down commerce or any drag way

Nah, due to the compound of the tire, the coefficient of friction would be much lower than an higher performance tire. Sure the car would make it around the track but tires can make a huge difference.

yea i saw it. And you make a good point. But even on day to day street driving a tire like the 711 would be night and day difference compared to the OE 050. Especially when u consider the cars weight.

Thank you its about time someone said that. I have sportmax 962's and they are the most played out cheapes deep dish wheels you can buy. Name one other wheel where you can by and 18x9.5/8.5 staggered setup for $550 brand new at your house ha ha. The beauty is in how absolutely dirt cheap they are.

yeah my mistake I misread your post. I didnt see the "same goes for high performance" thing. But as stated earlier cheap tires equals more tires to burn.

Cheap tires equals a car that's 4 foot shorter at Road Atlanta in turn 12 then when you started at turn 1 Tires are the number one most important investment, everything you can or can't do with the car is based on those tires...unless you're a parking lot queen then whatever.

I was running a Bridgestone at Commerce a few years back getting a 1.9 sec 60 foot ALL night long, went to the Kumho 711's/712's a couple weeks later and dropped to a 2.1 to 2.2+ at best. I wouldn't even autocross on those much less a 3,500 lb car with twice the hp on the street, strip, or track.

maybe its a drag or drift car...the tires in the back dont look the same as the front so maybe its a drag car...

Honestly.. Havin worked at Discount tire. 711s are a popular tire for the buck. They are used for gas savin purposes, actually tread water decently, and alot of low budget drifters buy them for low budget drifting. But they stop makin them and replaced them with the Kumho Ecstas. You can still find the original 711s for sale. Speed Rating is sometimes a not a bigdeal, unless your runnin the autobahn. and actually 711s are a lighter tire then most.

i agree with you. If your going to invest in ur car and have quite a bit of power, why not spend a little extra in safety? maybe he has stronger breaks...but again those are only as good as the tires

there is nothing wrong with khumo tires, they make a great tire and traction is just fine too on a rwd car.
