I just dont understand the obsession people have with JL. simple price to performance comparisons rule them out every time. Wel except the W6v2. Thats a damn nice woofer.

I've put in hundreds of Audiobahn subs over the years, and they do hit good for the money, but the sound quality doesn't come close to many other subs. For just bass, yeah get them, but quality I'll always pick JL. Lot of JL haters out there, but they are clean as hell and quite efficient. The only exception for me is the W7 because it takes 5 million watts to power, but the W3, W6 are always great choices. 150-200 "true" watts will slam them. I've had many, many over the years and they will always be my choice sub.

couldnt have said it better myself. ( I work for a rockford, panasonic, DEI distributor...) but i still think JL/Diamond has the best stuff on the market, the newer rockford T1 and T3 speakers are very impressive as well.

Once i get my next car in Jan doing a nice basic SQ setup.

Going for Rainbow Germaniums up front and prob something from Image Dynamics or older Elemental Designs in the back, sealed box.

Prob not going to splurge too much on the amp, something from Arc perhaps.

Should be good SQ for not too much money

actually on a meter in the same car, same amp, and boxes built by the same person. W6v2 was .3db louder on the dash. W7 is only louder because of higher xmax and power handling. watt for watt though w6v2 is louder.

Speaking of W6's I got one for sale and speaking of rockford fosgate power series I got one for sale.

But W6's hit hard as hell, with a jl 500/1 setup it is amazing.

But anyways, I think I am going to have a sweet new setup soon. You'll see.

some sheltered peeps... best subs would have to include Beyma, adire, RE, Focal, Dynadio... Some mainstream would be like the JL, MTX 9500, Orion H2 and new HCCA.

Best bang for the Buck IMO is alpine type R.

Best sub for what? loud? quality? ported? sealed? bass? clarity? punch?

the MTX 9500's are pretty nice, but they arent all that special. Much smaller than my XXX's and not nearly as loud.

DD subs are VERY nice, but they are VERY well known. They arent some new upstart that just doesnt have their name out there yet. They just dont mass market their gear.

I was considering doing the DD 3512f's in my truck for a while, but with all the good things I'm hearing about FI I am leaning towards them now cause they are a little cheaper.

Oh and pioneer premier tsw-5000spl is the loudest sub on earth right now.

Well I have tried most of the name brand of subs, and nothing compares to a 12w7 or any w7 serie subs. They are clean, and hit some low notes. Quality is top notch. Just a good all around sub! When I had my 00 Civic Si, I had also had a 12w7 with a 1000/1 and hit a 149.1db. In my 740 wagon I have a 12w7 with a Alpine v12 1000d, but seems the amp isn't up to pushing this sub to its potential so I will be getting a 1000/1 soon.

well 1 thing I can say for sure is that you werent anywhere close a 149.1 with a single w7 and 1000/1. I would guess closer at a 139.1 with that.

    2. the gay coils from JL are part of the problem with not getting enough power.

    3. you are right about it being a good all around sub, bit its not even close to the best in any catagory.

Yeah it was at 149.1 I was a Elite car show in SC, and Pablo was the judge there. I took first in the 1-160 class. But I'n not here to argue, I don't know what meter they used but I think it wasn't the one they use at the db drags.
