i would go with the 1000/1, but i just like JL stuff.
yea ,me too I can get one for like 600 bucks

umm.....wow, thats a really good price, you cant go wrong with that.Originally Posted by 3.5altman
the 1000/1 is a good amp, but a little too much for that sub IMO. I would do something like this instead for half the price.
that 600.1 is not enough power the 1000/1 is the perfect amount of power for a 12W7. Trust me I had 3-12w7's on 3 1000/1 and it beat really good. That will sound really good when you are done man.Originally Posted by BanginJimmy

and according to that chart the 1000/1 is getting into the danger zone. Dont get me wrong I'm not knocking the amp or the sub, but a solid 600wrms is plenty to get that sub to xmax. Adding more power than what is required tog et to xmax does little in the way of overall volume or SPL and increases the chance on going over the termal limit of the voice coil or trying to force the sub past xmech.Originally Posted by BOOSTED S60R
well I had my 3 on the 3 1000/1 for almost 2 years and never ever had a driver fail ever! I sell 1000/1 all day long on 12W7';s and they never blow ever. And when we do sell a 500/1 on a 12w7 it is under powered and sounds like poo.Originally Posted by BanginJimmy

ok peps i got the amp thing figured out no im trying to decide on the best box. the sub came in a box like this
PORTED BOX

HO BOX
so guys what's your opinion on which box well hit the hardest

id go with the ported if its made for that sub, if its not you'll end up blowing it. ported sounds better and gets louder.

Dont go cheap on an amp if you paid for a W7. Personally I would search around for something like a US Amps USA 1000 or DE1000. Both will be cheaper than the 1000/1 and will give you very close to the same power and in the case of the DE-1000 maybe a little more.
The drawback to those amps, they will be hard as hell to find.
yea bro, I just got a thing for those old school punch amps

the older RF amps were very nice. I wish they would get rid of the cheap ass parts they are using now and go back higher end like they were in the mid 90's.
I cant stand all of these guys that want to underpower a sub that is a power hog.
As a general rule, you cant have too much power... just turn it down.
MOST blown speakers are caused by the amp clipping out. You get a nasty peak when this happens and bye bye sub.
I used to have 2 Eclipse 10" Alum. subs and I had 1 Xtant 1000.1 running to each speaker.
Just my $1 - 98cents.
