    Default MTX Jackhammer...

well i had read about it in one of the previews to all the products comming out in 2005, well, i was at a friends house yesterday and i saw pimp my ride and they put that 22inch MTX Jackhammer speaker into a car, it took 4 or 6 amps and 6 caps to power it and they said it went well over 10 decibals....i wanna kno has anyone heard of of these in person, that shit looked bad...
oh i forgot to add, it took like 3 batteries to power it

...if i had a truck or SUV....i would look into to gettign this personally

actually, they said it weighs 335 lbs....that had to reinforce it with alot of bolts and a big ass box, they took out the whole back seat just to make room for it......wonder how long it will be before all the chevy boys on 24's will have that on their shit

With a $5000 price tag I doubt that many people will have it.

Its pointless, I saw the end of that pimp my ride, they had the db meter barely breaking 100 (I think i saw 100.2 as the highest they had) and they were all freaking out "This is INSANE!!!" I wouldnt doubt though that tuned correctly that sub easily does 150s.

I saw that shit on MTV today...CRAZY!!!! first cat in the world to have it....they had to use a cherry picker to get it in there and then had to support it from the rear to get it to stay...CRAZY power!!!!

Reminds me of something Jeremy Clarkson said when he tested the Super Evo.
"Its a bit like Jordan. I can see why they did it, a bit of a laugh... but I think they've gone too far. I think its all just a bit too silly."

Do you know what weighted DB meter they were using? if its 100.2 on an A weight DB meter that is loud as fuck. If that is a 100.2 on a C weighted meter that is a little over room level.

Mtv and West Coast Customs really capped the potential of that sub, with 6,000 watts it could only hit 130 dB, thats pethetic, with my single orion i hit 141.2 I know they had to really underpower that subwoofer, or i have a feeling he might have been able to blow out his windows. Also i would like to see him hit a speed bump and see that subwoofer rip right out of its box. Imagine if he hit something, the car stops, and u have a 335 pound projectile going damn fast, think of it as a slow moving 22 deck gun shell

^^^ 130DB is pretty lousy for that woofer but i do think it had a lot to do with airspace... i mean shit that much speaker would needa friggin bus to really get that pressure jus right

That jackhammer on pimp my ride had no real enclosure, That DB meter was bullsh*t, and thats a pure SPL sub, so their is a 10 out of 10 chance it will sound like crap but most pure $1000 and up SPL sub so. If You walled of that car and ported that sh*t and tuned that box high like in the mid 40'shz that sub will probably hit in the mid 150's with only half its recommened power handling. Im no MTX fan but thats the best large woofer i've seen to date,

a year or so back a shop did a side by side test DD9917 vs the jackhammer in an SPL Astro. I dont rremember all the specifics but the DD got louder with less power and used less than half the space to do it.

he will probably win too. Lack of common sense on your part is now a reason to sue a company for.
