If an antennae says XM on it, can I still use it for Sirius? I found a Sirius receiver but I don't have the antennae for it. The XM antennae plugs into, but does that necessarily mean it will work? Thanks. Later, QD.
i do not know. you could always bootleg hook it up just to see if it works before installing it the correct way. 2cent.
Behold...it's slow
Shouldn't work. They pick up different frequencies plus u won't get ground rebroadcasts in large cities. Sometime you will get lucky but in general no.
it works just fine i use xm antenna on sirius tuners all the time and vise versa, when we sell out of replacement antenna. but i have noticed that the xm antenna load fast on sirius units then sirius antenna on sirius units which is stranger

yes most of the time they will inter-change.
Pm me if you need one, I got both!!
Pretty soon it will not matter. Both Sirius and XM are going to become one broadcast together. Pretty cool if you ask me. We will get the best of both worlds, when it is all said and done.
As QD says...
Later !
mike it will work...i know cause ive got sirius with an xm antenna

You might need antenna adapters, not much money, but you would need to
pull the radio out to look?
The antennas are different. They may work if you swap them but drop-outs may be significantly higher. Sirius is heavily based on satellite reception while XM is heavily based on terrestrial reception. The antennas are tuned to receive their preferred mode of transmission.
Also, when the FCC provided licensing for both companies, their bandwidth was not separated with a buffer frequency. Earlier antennas and tuners both have filters that reject the opposite signal to reduce or prevent cross talk.
So in short, you can't hurt the tuner if you try it. It may work, it may not. In order to get the best possible signal, use the right antenna.
