Default Ipod and XM with one aux?

I have 1 aux in the back of my headunit and i have an ipod hooked up to it. I called my audio guy and he says I need some sort of adapter if I want to use my ipod and my built in xm. Does anyone know what he is talking about/where I can get it? Basically something to enable me to plug my xm and ipod into that one aux unit. I already have the xm car kit and I still have to get the smart digital adapter, but my audio guy says I have to get a totally different kit. SO any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the xm kit it has an audio out, a controller/head unit jack which the smart adapter connect to and then the atennae which I have, the thing is, I think I only have one set of rca connectors in the back of the headunit abnd I want to be able to plug my ipod up and xm and my installer says there is a specific kit for that if I only have one aux and I was trying to figure out what that was so I could price it.

you could also just use an FM Modulator, connecting it to you ipod, it sends an fm signal, usually 88.5, and you tune your radio to the station, and the ipod is playing on the radio, without using the AV hookup.

Working at radioshack does some good, huh?

if the FM mod is wireless then it'll suck ass...if it is wired it'll sound much better.

I had one of those once..... can't hold a candle to line in, its acceptable, but unacceptable to discerning ears.
