theres so much to say about this subject i dont know where to start. and i know alot of pple on IA are not open minded about whats really goin on in america as far as african americans, black people , or which ever rolls off your tounge.
i think its sad that america has shined so much of how they want ethinic or black people are. everything that black pple say or do no matter how positive and how many positive things they do one negative can out wieght20-50 positive things when it comes to them.
everything accomplishment and tragedy is a mockery of this culture. and pple see it as a norm. i dont understand when pple say. ..."you Black pple have a change in this world now...you can do whatever you want"not true exactly. i know it is possible that black pple can reach to a highg level of accomplishments. but its either your a "sell out" meaning you may look black but your really dont......support your background on any topic. you stick with other only to reach the goal of your own.
or you stopped "some way some how" ( threatened) or you never get the chance or you dont try cuz its is for certain that you wont get what you deserve if you work hard or harder to be where you want. ( theres more to it than i have stated)
but its so sad to acknowledge the anger and struggle that black people go thru on a daily basis no matter what field.
like for instance i was working with a white lady that had her own business doing faux finishing. my mother was teaching her youngest dauaghter in kindergarten. at the time i was lookin for a job and my mom had the lady call me cause she had room open for me. long story short i got tha job workin with her and another assistant she had. But what i didnt realize till later was that she excepted me as " ooh im gonna help this poor black child to get a job ...im doing her a favor to get her off the street" type shit. ( ha i was raised in dunwoody no where near tha hood) but im still poor and black.
from day one i could tell something was different about this lady. she not only contradicted herself about church and sex but with racism as well. she talked bad about white pple on how they treated blk pple. but everyday i worked with her a racist remark would come up. i worked in her house as well cause her shop was down stairs. to see how this lady lived like she was an all american white women actin like she had the life that everyone wants to live the way she does. when i went to lunch with her and her family there weren constant remarks made from the bible he interpreted and then just plain out racist. i needed the job at the time so i stayed with it for months and didnt say a word because i knew i would loose my job if i had said something to oppose them. till one day at lunch her brother insulted my intelligence and insulted me as a person. no one said a word in my defense they only laughed it off. i couldnt take it anymore. i had to speak to friends and family because i needed the job at the time and i couldnt quite. so i got convinced to stay.
mind you i have never fauxed in my life but i was awsome in everything she asked me to do. and the first day i worked was in a $900,000+ home and they adored my work in one room and asked my boss to do it as i had done it. not one mistake out of the months that i had been workin there. till one day i got the wrong paint because she didnt look to see what i brought her. and i told her to look. she was pissed and said that she should let me go cuz her family said i was bringing her too many problems but she wanted to keep me as if like i said ( gettin me off the streets) ~pity is what she was holding on to~ and then 2 weeks later she was playing the roll like "i will call you when we get new clients". i became on call. and the other assistant ( white) made mistakes every week atleast 2wice a week ...something about getting lost to go to work sites or not doing what she was asked.
i quite because i told her my opinion about the paint ( which she asked) and she took everything to heart and wouldnt listen to me like i was a child. so i told her i im done with workng with her.
its was terrible i stayed for so long. when i ran errands with her i couldnt go into certain places with her because her clients or the pple she worked with didnt agree for me to come in because im black. when we worked at other clients houses they would always speak to the other assistant and ask her question which she didnt know. and if answered them they woulddnt even look at me or respond to me. they only fixed their eyes on the other girl. everyday i was never acknowledged for my work or as a person and i was constantly reminded that i am black person.
no it hasnt stoped me from being me or dong what i want but it puts hold to me getting where i need to go and slowing my accomplishments because of racist pple.
and its not just white pple but asian's as well as some other ethnice pple. like i said earlier america betrays us as stupid, violent, loud, gang bangers, lazy, dirty and contaminating people. and just about everything we do and say is worthless or made out of mockery. if it deals with work, music, arts, sport, politics, life as a whole, or anything.
