Default If you're going to buy stock..

In about 15 minutes the fed is going to announce if interest rates are going to hold steady.. I'm no expert at this but I'm sure if there is not another rate hike that the market will celebrate. Back in May the market did nicely just from the anticipation of this news but they raised rates and the market suffered some.

I preface this by saying invest in anything with research and due diligence and if you have done that.. now would be a good time to buy.

When prime gets raised it sucks for me. People are less apt to do transfers and I make less money. I work in credit cards but for people in the stock market it has to suck worse.

If the fed pauses, that means they think the economy did not grow much. That will worry people holding stocks and they will sell thinking they are at their highest point for a while. That selloff will make the market fall. On the other hand you want the market to fall. Thats the perfect time to buy. With the BP oil pipeline drama, i would wait a couple more days to buy anything. People are nervous, it will go down some more.

Course this all depends on what your looking at. Some stocks will grow regardless.

true, but also it depends on how you look at it. Did the economy not grow much, or did it not inflate much (which is the main reason for hike after hike after hike). But now, does a slow growing economy = slow inflation? I would say yes, most of the time, but is that the case now?

Now, if you are sure the market will tank, why not short the Dow and call it a day?

And tony, since the market will celebrate what did you buy long into? And how did you know at 2:06 that the Fed wouldnt hike it, when its not released till 2:15

Just putting yall on the spot for fun actually, no harm intended. I am just loooking for tomorrows play of the day

No harm taken at all, I was careful in my choice of words

In about 15 minutes the fed is going to announce if interest rates are going to hold steady..
And I think my portfolio took a hit today even after the announcement, but I invest for the long term so ups and downs are the norm.. I'll actually purchase more now.

As far as individual stock goes I only invest in a couple of companies, (bls, ge, hd, luv, pfe) other than that its just mutual funds for me. I slack on doing research so I invest way more into the mutual funds than stock.. right now I'm sitting on a 5.4% return so far this year, that was up to 15% before May and it has been down hill ever since.. wish I was doing better but at least I'm not losing money at this point.

The BP thing is crazy.. and just really strange. Even though the bulk of the oil produced in Alaska goes to China anyway..

I only invest in Bellsouth because I work for them and they match a portion of what I buy.. I started buying back when it was up to $44 and you see where it is at now, the stock isn't doing great but AT&T will offer 1.3 shares of their stock for each share we own when the merger is finished.

Southwest Airlines I actually bought back when they along with Jet Blue and Airtran were the only domestic airlines turning a profit. Should have sold a longggg ass time ago.

Basically I invested enough that I could stand to lose so I could simply try and understand the market, I did a lot of research intially but over time I lost track and held on to the stock, at this point I'm just seeing how things go. What about you?
