    Default Position Available: Optical Component Engineer

    Position Overview:
    Optical Component Engineer will be responsible for the specification, selection, and qualification of passive and active optical components and subsystems to be used in DWDM communications equipment.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Write software to automate the control, monitor and data acquisition of laboratory equipment for component measurement and characterization.
    • Measure and characterize optical components and subsystems such as OADM filters, DWDM filters, Wavelength switches and optical amplifiers.
    • Interact with vendors to maintain visibility to new technologies.
    • Coordinate design with optical, mechanical and hardware engineers to reach interface and packaging objectives.

    Qualifications and Experience:
    • BS in electrical engineering or physics.
    • +2 years of experience in test and measurement.
    • Software skills in Microsoft Visual Basics, LabView, and/or C++.
    • Proficiency in writing technical specifications.
    • Knowledge of optical component reliability and telecom performance standards such as Telcordia, IEC, and ITU are highly desirable.
