Make sure it whats you want to be do.

    This isn't -just- a job.

    It's a lifestyle.

    Once you're a firefighter...you're a firefighter for life.

    Believe it.

My dad has been a firefighter for over 13 years now. If you can't take seein some pretty fucked up stuff then I would say not to become one cause you will see some fuckin up things. My dad will talk about most things he has saw but there is one wreck that he had to go to where like 5 people died. I heard whenever they rolled one of the cars over that there was a dude under it cut in half and a little baby layin there dead.

If its a small town, chances are they will have a volunteer fire dept. And they are always looking for people. Hope you like it. I think you'll find it very rewarding.

First, what is volley. Second, I have been considering entering this lifestyle for a couple of years now, just didn't know how to really go about it. That and I now primarily ride a motorcycle, wouldn't I have to carry my gear back and forth from home and the station?

Volley is the short term for volunteer.

    But I could be wrong.

The best was to go about it, is to get online to whatever city/county/providencew you're looking for and simply poke around. It's what I did, either that or call the Commissioner/Mayors/Whoever is in charge office and they can usually point you in the right direction.

In terms of the bike, yeah I'm still considered the new guy even with a 1 1/2 years in, but most places have a room where all the gear goes, unless you get shipped to another station then...yeah...you gotta lug it with you.
