    Default Sales Rep Questions

So I got an interview Sunday for a roofing company that replaces and fixes roofs from hail damage and other damage. The insurence company covers every and everyone is happy.

This company shall go unamed. But, what I would be doing is being a Sales rep which involves essentailly I would be following up leads I get but mainly going to the area where the storms have been or were, and going door to door explaining that what we do (Inspect the house for free, if damage is found, all the customer has to do is file the claim with our report and the job gets approved, the customer pays nothing or occasionlly the deductable. However alot of the time it can be taken care of) handing out cards and flyers. I give a full inspection of the roof, figure out what it would cost and a contact and it goes from there.

Now, I asked what kind of money is involved. There are 20 sales reps for the company and so the guy said almost everyone of them make a six figure income. Thats doing 8-10 Contracts per week. Meaning you get 8-10 people signed up. Now, looking at this from a skepitcal point of view saying this is legit and I do bad the first couple months. Which would be 2-3 contacts a week. Off each decent sized contact I make like 1200 bucks. There is alot of work invovled but still I think its worth it. They pay every 2 weeks so if I did terrible 2400 every paycheck. And I tax myself because essentially I run my own junk.

Thats how the whole thing works. I am trying to optimistic because in a sense its sounds completely legit. I found the job because that particular company is doing my parents house. And everything he said, is exactly how it worked with my family. However, me being almost 20 and able to make that kind of money?

Also, on the skeptical/optimisic side of the actuall selling. Yes, every way I am not selling something to someone. I am NOT going door to door selling magazine subscriptions to people and annoying them. I am informing them that they can get their roof fixed for free if its damaged because the insurence company pays for it and I can make the house worth more with a new roof. All they have to do is make the claim and give me their business.

However, my buddy used to do something similiar with pest control. And yes he went door to door doing the same. But, he was selling pest control and it cost the customer whatever it cost and it was NOT covered by insurence in any way at all.

So in general, thanks for reading. But I really wanted opinions on how legit this sounds. I have been thinking hard about it and I either think it could work out awesome or terrible. So those with experiance in this sort of thing, please share the knowledge.

Sounds to make sense. Because if the homeowner knows they can have the roof fixed for free, they will probably go with the company that they feel was looking out for them. So the contractors are getting more jobs because people are turning to their insurance companies, so they are giving you a cut to get them more business... Actually sounds like a good idea and definitely a smart business move. Good luck with it if you decide to do it.

Awesome, I am leaning towards that right now because it does make a lot of sense. I just am very skeptical that I could make that sort of money.

Just remember... the contracts are not gauranteed to be signed every week... So some weeks you may not make anything... Especially just starting out... Don't let that discourage you. Any salesman could make 6 figures IF they know how to sell, others may barely get by.

Yeah, I am very aware I wont make anything for 2 paychecks. However if contacts get signed and I make money, then soon after I will be making pretty good money for my age. I can sell, my dad is a machinery dealer. Ive been around it all my life.

Thats the thing. The customers dont spend money, thats what you pay for on house insurence. Yes there is a deductable, alot of the times it can be taken care of if the contract is decent. If not, its like 1000 bucks tops.

Now granted yes, 1000 dollars is alot of money. However 1000 is alot better than 10,000 to fix the roof in the first place.

And finally the legal aspect of it. When someone files a claim about their house, it is completely illegal for the insurence company to raise that particular persons rates as long as its not for maitainence reasons. However, they can raise the rates for an entire area so essentailly if you live in the area, you are already paying for it in the first place. You might as well get what your paying for.
That makes a hell of alot of sense to me personally.

In GA the office is in Norcross but it was started in Ohio. It operates in six states and working on getting three more states before the year is over.
