you have to be 21 to purchase or register a handgun. period. however, if you'e on private property or the gun is to be used for hunting, you may be in CONTROL of a handgun at age 18. it's simple, really, the two sites state the same thing, but for one, you were lookin at the wrong thing on the second site, so it wasnt an apples to apples comparison. http://www.georgiapacking.org/GaCode...§ion=101.1 and the articles it references are along the same lines as the first site.
Handguns are not registered in Georgia. There is no such thing as a registry that you must submit information to concerning a handgun purchase. You must be 21 to purchase a handgun, plain and simple. The media is constantly talking about "unregistered" guns as if they should be registered. Then, people run around talking about registering a handgun. One place where guns were required to be registered was DC. That was in the 70's. Congress and the courts are working to reverse that BS.Originally Posted by KPowerEP3
Correction. All new guns are registared. The ones bought used are not.

It is against state law for any city, county or state office or official to register your firearm.

Ill explain in a nutshell being a gun freak.
You can buy a rifle or shotgun at the age of 18.
You can buy a pistol at the age of 21. However, you can receive on as a gift or inherit one. Thus you may own a pistol before the age of 21 but you cannot buy one.
Carring purposes. If you have a rifle or shotgun in your vehicle before the age of 21 and without your concealed weapons permit you may carry it but it must be unloaded with the stock open. And generally the clip needs to be out of the case if the rifle has a clip. (I keep my 30 round clip for my sks in the same case, never got bothered about it)
Pistol wise. If you are under the age of 21 you may keep the pistol in your vehicle in plain site and the clip and pistol may be one unit. If the pistol is hidden you must have the pistol and clip in two different places of the vehicle. (IE, under the seat and the glovebox) The reason you are able to carry in your vehicle is a huge bi law thus stating your vehicle is an extension of your home no matter what. Your vehicle is privite property.
Once you are 21 and have the concealed license, the gun can be hidden, loaded, and chambered.
The big thing the cops will screw with you is where you drive with your vehicle with the guns. Your not supposed to be on school campus's or churchs or things of that nature. You can look those areas up. However, again that bi law thus stating your vehicle is your own privite property you may get away with it.
Personally I dont go anywhere, and I mean anywhere without a rifle in the truck or shotgun.

^^ yep. Except gun shows, that's why so many people buy them there (or did they change that as well)
Bullshit. There is no registry. Who are they registered with? Except gunshows? If a licensed dealer sells guns at a show, he must run a background check on the purchaser, unless the purchaser has a CCL. Your comments further reveals that you have been inculcated with liberal lies. They run around yelling about how they need to close the gun show loophole. I, as private citizen, may go to a gunshow and sell a gun. No paperwork is filled out (4473). The 4473 only records the transaction. It is not a registry, per se. You guys need to do a little research before you post up.Here is a challenge to Blitanicle---What agency are handguns registered with? Federal, state, or local. ANswer: NONE. It is unconstitutional to create a gun registry. Cananda has been trying to implement one for several years, but its citizens have revolted. So, in summary, there is no registry. I've been dealing in guns for 20 years. I know what I am talking about.
18 for rifle and 18 for handgun as long as the gun and magazine are separated. 21 for carrying a loaded handgun.
EF SQUAD FTMFW!!!!![]()
Wait so im confused. I know you have to be 21 to purchase a hand gun, but you can recive one as a gift if u are under 21 and carry it as long as it is not loaded and the magazine is not in the gun and is in plain view?
hehehehehehe....
Can anyone confirms this with a link?
No. A link would give you tons of laws and shit. I know my rights. I get pulled over and Im not worried about carring my shit.
Heres the rules again.
21 To purchase handgun.
18 To Purchase shotgun/rifle
18 to carry shotgun or rifle (bolt must be open)
18 TO carry handgun
A. Plain sight with magazine and gun as one.
B. Hidden, gun and magazine must be in two different places in vehicle
If you get pulled you have two choices. Dont mention the gun unless he asks.
Or, put the gun and magazine on the dash, before he pulls up. Make sure your lights on are on and windows are down. Your hands at the 10 and 2 position. That is police procedure. If you do that, they know you either are a cop, know a cop blah blah blah. Youll get out of many many tickets.
As for the link, Im a redneck these laws are in my genes.

Thanks for your knowledge, You wanted to get a good confirmation before I try to carry one in the car, and not get fucked...
Thanks +1
Who wants to buy me a pistol as a gift? Then I'll get you a "gift".
Well if you were like me its 18 period.... No shotgun rifle handgun rules... SEMPER FI BABY
PIC TOO BIG
Its illegal but every new firearm is accounted for. When you buy a brand new pistol a round has been fired to A test the weapon and B keep a brass of what marking the firing pin does.
However, if your smart you just change the firing pin.
And no I dont know everything about guns. I know alot about guns, legal rules and whatnot. I own a "few" should we say. And currently I am doing all I can to buy as many semi autos as I can with all the democratic gun laws that are about to fuck us al l over.

It's not really "registering" a firearm. They take note of the serial code on the weapon and who they sold it to.
And it's 18 to purchase a rifle.
21 to purchase a hand gun.
And I have a friend i "gifted" a hand gun to at 18 and he never had a problem with changing over the name attatched to it, or police bothering him more than asking to see documents for it.
