Default Thinking New Project: Oldsmobile engine in Fox Body Mustang

Now, As alot of my BRB member know. Im a hardcore Oldsmobile guy. And I have my 81 Cutlass. And love it. But I want a light, easy, badass mostly strip car. So I been pondering what car could I stick my other 455 I have in storage in. I looked at all the Olds car. There is one that would work. But It is pretty ugly. And fairly hard to find. Then there was my bros datsun 280zx. But it wasn't hitting the spot. Then I got to thinking what about a Fox body. I alwayz love the look of a well built clean fox body. Parts by the millions. It would be alittle different. Being its a Oldsmobile engine. Now I know Im probably pissing off some hardcore mustang guys off. But Oldsmobile never made a car that fits all my drag racing needs. I would like to break into the 2900lbs range . And I can't gut my Cutlass. I want my cutlass to cruise in. Be more of a sleeper. Nice quite exhaust, A/c, full interior. But its still a 3400lbs car gutted. Where I could gut, roll cage and do whatever I want too the stang and be a hell of alot lighter.

Now before someone say why not a camaro. Well becuz I alrdy done it to a 3rd gen. And I didn't care for it. I didn't put a 455 in it. But it was a Oldsmobile engine and they all bolt up the same. So what yall think? Would it piss you off. Or think its neat. or wateva. I kinda curious of everyones thoughts. Its goin to be a Oldsmobile engine and drivetrain. In any case. I just thinking the Mustang will be my platform.

Great idea. Far as weight wise. But I like the fox body more. And to put a v8 in a honda would be more work then I care for

if you do decide to do this more than likely will have to have a k member made for your application cause i have a dohc 4.6 i was gonna swap into my fox but the components to do this would have been the same building my 5.0.... the k member lowered the motor and set it back a little in the engine bay. the 32v 4.6 is a wide motor not sure but might want to search on this some.... i know they make the kits to swap ls(series motors) into the foxes (bad rides but gotta stay true)....

WOW, thats some good info. Thanks.

Yeah I wont even try this swap for probably 2 more years. But I wanted to get a idea. And if I find a great deal go ahead and get it.

And the staying true I understand. And that was one of the biggest reason I quit with the Olds in the camaro. I wanted brand loyalty. And a better differential option other then the weak 7.5 10 bolt. But Oldsmobile didn't make a great drag car. But they drag race them. But you can't get a olds car to run as fast for the same amount of money as a mustang could.

So we will see. I just want ppls thoughts. I wont be a GM vehicle. And it seem the fox body is the best all round option
