It's come time to sell my 1975 BMW 2002.
My initial search for a nice 2002 here in the east coast was unsuccessful. Most had rust issues which I did not want to tackle or either the sellers were unrealistic with the price. My search then turned to the west coast. I found one that was perfect for what I wanted to do. Rust was very minimal, body was good overall, and basic mechanicals were a good base. I have worked on this car for about 2 years on and off when time permitted. The following has been done:
Mechanical
Head replaced with rebuilt unit (rebuild done at Will's Auto Machine Shop)
New stock BMW head gasket used, new BMW head bolts used
Stock 2-core radiator re-cored to 3 cores at Sim's Radiator Service
Front brakes replaced with New Ireland Engineering Big Brake Kit (rotors, calipers, pads)
Front wheel bearings replaced when brakes done
New Ireland Engineering Stainless Steel brakes lines
Super Blue brake fluid
Suspension upgraded with Ireland Engineering Stage 1 Springs and new Bilstein Sport shocks
New strut and shock mounts when suspension done
Transmission oil replaced with Royal Purple Max Gear
New upgraded 8mm Spark Plug wires
New Ireland Engineering Stainless Steel exhaust system
New BMW exhaust manifold gasket/heat shield used
New electric fan
Weber 32/36 carb
New fuel filter
Interior
Front bucket seat (old school Prinz seat)
New black carpet
Victor steering wheel
Aluminum gas pedal
Dash pad (dash does have cracks like 95% of 2002's)
Custom gray suede headliner with black vinyl pillars
Front door card backings replaced
Front door cards and rear side cards sprayed black
Rear trunk panels covered in black vinyl
Old school wood shift knob
Exterior
Paint and body work done - stock Chamonix color
Front grill painted black
Custom VW Duckbill spoiler
New Ireland Engineering rear fiberglass bumper
14x7 Panasport lightweight rims (racing version), BMW center caps
Falkin Azenis tires with ~60% remaining (195/60/14)
Fenders rolled
New BMW window seals
New BMW black lock strip and cup
New door seals
New trunk seal
New aftermarket belt and knee trim
Rear tail light and side lens replaced with better condition lens
Stock exterior trim that have been kept have been hand polished

New center, left, and right ties rods

Washer kit for e-brake
There is probably some things I have forgotten to mention but as you can see above, I have done a
lot of work to this car. One thing that I have not had the chance to do is to weld in a small piece to replace a rust hole on the rear driver side floor pan (rust was cut out). Horn wiring needs to be looked at as horn does not work currently.
