I don't mean any offense, but I learned how to use a manual transmission in ten minutes, teaching myself. I honestly don't see why people have trouble shifting and letting the clutch out. I mean, I usually let the clutch all the way out by 1200rpm.

this reminds me when i learned how to drive stick... ina parking lot at 530 am.. Cops showed up because I was screeching too much... than i stalled infront of them.. quite funny. but yeah I rammed it up at 5k when starting in 5th gear.. God the smell was terrible (it was my friends Accord )

only problem I got with stick is how to keep it from rocking when you engage in first gear and smooth shifting i recon!

Short of sitting on a steep incline, you shouldn't really have to rev it up any just go move forward. Just find your braking point, learn it, and as soon as you feel the clutch starting to grab give it gas. My first car was stick, and had 316 rear wheel torque at 2500 RPM. Made for some fun days on big hills. God forbid it had rained.

I love manual cuse when your break dies or fails to work, you can just GEAR down to 1 than use the hand break!

I saw this video of a guy driving a viper at high speed, than he rams it in first...

If it were me, I would bring it up to about 5500, and snap the clutch. That should be suffecient enough to start out with.

the best advice i can give you is tape off the rpm gauge and learn that way, try to listen to the engine to determine when to shift, also by doing this you'll know when the go point of the clutch is just by how far your foot has come up.
    best thing u can do.

very very simple, i agree with u
the way i learned was my dad told me put it in gear let off the clutch and give it gas, then he left to go for a walk. i learned in five minutes. don't pay so much attention to the rpm meter.
