i always let it reach operating temp before i drive it. my car is really old and requires some babying lol. I give it ab 10-15 mins everymorning while im eating breakfast or doing whatever. believe me it will extend the life of your car to let it warm up befire you beat on it and then give it time to cool down after runs as well.
Cool down timers are awesome.
when i had my car i would let it sit a good 20-45 seconds before starting, let the idle get steady and then some. now that i have my truck i just let the idle drop down and i put it in drive. runs like a soldier.
i like to cold start my car and try to make sure if im at a meet i start to do a burnout or lay on it leaving asap. if possible, i try to hit rev limiter before i even have oil pressure by cold starting it with my foot on the floor.
I let my worm up for about 1-2min and than go.
Rotary..i let it warm all the way up,no matter what the weather is
if it's cold I warm up to about 180º, if it's hot outside i don't let it warm up as long, i usually drive to warm it, but i shift under 2k rpm
some times i let it warm up....when im in a rush i just start and go lol
My uncle is a mechanic and he said the car should be warmed even in the summer time.
But the car that im driving. . .it doesn't matter to me b/c its a corolla -_-
shit i got a d15b7, i let it warm up maybe like a minute for the heater to get nice and warm, and go.
I usually always wait a few minutes... either wait for a steady idle or i wait for the temp needle start to move at least, lol
I like to crank it with my foot on the gas and just let it bounce off of the rev limiter until it's warmed up. That way i don't have to drive it while its cold.
I usually let mine warm up for 3-4minutes

ill tuning with the ms&s cold start means I have to let it warm up. My car dosn't even gain composure for the first 3 mins of starting.
I let it idle for about two min/ and first ten minutes of driving I never reach over 3000 RPMs
hell yeah, i have to let my compressor make air.
Nope. I get in, turn on the seat heaters and go. I'll sit for a minute if there is ice but the damn thing warms up in like 34 seconds.
Even when I lived up north, it took maybe 3 minutes to completely de-ice all of the windows with snow and ice on them.
Always warm it up to full temp, then spray water on my radiator. .
I do the same thing for my wagon George...Quote:

My daily car, i crank it and let it run for a few seconds to get the blood flowing and then i drive it easy for a few miles. Then drive it normal.
hm..
i cant tell anymore if my car is @ operating temps or not..
bad gauge cluster.
warm up for 2-3 mins and go easy.
under 3krpm.
10-15 mins.. ill be blowing smoke all over the place from bad valve seals that lets the oil accumulate lol..
I worm mine up to full running temt before i drive her!!
Its always below zero here in Alaska so I start mine about 30-45 mins before I leave so it isnt as cold when I leave and then I leave it running while Im inside stores resturaunts or anything else.
I'll run out in my pajamas in the morning and start it, and set the defroster on low and run back in side. That way the inside will be slightly warm when I come back out after getting ready for work. So it usually idles for around 10 minutes or so. If for some reason I cant get outside to warm it up first, i still let it idle for about a minute and stay below 3k and out of boost :goodjob:
I drive a PT Cruiser (no laughing) and that motor uses a choking mechanism to start the cold engine (wait...do all cars use choking? i dunno...). but anyway, if i start driving on a cold engine with that rich air/fuel mixture, the engine is peppier (read: more fun) for a few minutes, but i got the 4-speed and it can't keep up with the engine's peppy revs. can't be good for my tranny. so i let it warm up to fool operating temp.
I have remote start on my EK, so i just start it in morning, then go take a shower.
not recommended for my car to "warm up" so i just start up and go. of course that doesn't mean i beat up on it before it does actually warm up though :goodjob:
That's because Audi wants you to break something and half to bring it in and pay for repairs. Doesn't help that Audi's have horrendous repair costs. :lmao:Quote:

I drive a Volkswagen Golf TDi...I let it idle for a bit before I drive off and before I turn the car off.
Someone said it was good practice since the car was turbocharged...I still don't fully understand why to do so though...
10 minutes, full operating temp
