Default H22 Pistons in an H23.

Would h22 pistons work in an h23 motor. If so will i have to resleeve it? What other parts are interchangeable between the h22 and h23? Any info will be helpful.

depends on what crank and rod combo you use. if you use h23 crank and h23 rods then h23 pistons....h23 crank and h22 rods, you'll need custom pistons because the pistons will stick out of the hole.

you dont have to resleeve if you dont use forged pistons....you can use stocks, mahle's, or prelude type s.

Actually Bee, from what I read-up on HT.... the H23 doesn't have the FRM sleeves that the H22 does... either does the F22 and F23... only the H22 and S2k have the "exotic" sleeves as far as I know.

I just did an F22 build on stock sleeves and custom-sized Wiesco pistons from Race Engineering. We didn't sleeve the block on it. For a minute I was talking to Mahle about pistons, but then realized I did not need the "special ones".

Most of your H23 internals will be custom dimension that no place has on-the-shelf... like Bee said.

    Hope that helps.

Mike...the H23 does have the FRM sleeves. Only F-series do not not have them. Sk2 and i beleive NSX both have the FRM sleeves also.

H22 and H23 are the exact same casting...only difference isthe code on the block.

thats what I thought. Race engineering is the shit!! they gave a quote number of 970 for everthing to build the bottom end on a h22

you thought wrong, lol. i really doubt that Honda would use different sleeves in the H22 and H23 since its the exact block.

what might race engineering include in that build for $970?

Well i know that my motor has the frm sleeves but im trying to find out which H22 pistons will work in it. Everyone keeps saying the type-s pistons but what is the block code for that h22a4, h22a, h22a1, or h22? And im going with a balanced h23 crank, crower maxi-light h23 rods, and ??????? pistons.

you can only buy type s pistons through JDM parts dealers like hmotorsonline.com. you need look to see what size pistons your block takes... either A or B style Type S pistons. Mostly all the JDM h motors will say H22A

for forged pistons that are compatible Mahle is the only manufacturer that makes it as far as i know. higer stock compression would be Type S which is 11:1
