    Default Emissions

Anyone know where i can "pass" emissions without actually going? i will be out of town for a while and dont want to drive all the way back just to get my car re-registered.

I know someone who did this in NY, cost him $75.

    Thanks

    1. Drive back at night.
    2. Park it tail in so the drive buy popo won't see it
    3. Don't drive more then 10mph over the posted speed limit.
    4. Stay away from stop lights. Keep mooving.
    5. Put the silencer back in the exhaust.
Sounds like a 3 to 4 day day trip. Good luck

OR. just register it in that state. pay the tax. and get a new plate.
Tell them that you just mooved in with family, friend.

Go to the GA DMV and ask about a mooving permit.
Se if there is emissions testing in the state it is in.
If that it will be acceptable.

if you didn't want to drive 1500 miles to Atlanta, then why are you asking this in an ATL forum. I also saw this same post on GADSM.

    Ok forget www.gadsm.org

Why did you post it in an ATL forum if you didn't want to drive 1500 miles to Atlanta for emissions?

i didnt know where to start. My b-day isnt until august. since i officially live in GA, and that is where my house is. Extended business trips put me all over the country for weeks/months at a time. This timei s about 6 months.

I'm actualy still wondering about emmissions myself. I am going to be moving GA in about 2 months, but I have never lived in a place where you were required to do emission testing. What is involved exactly? I have heard that if you have a 96 or newer vehicle they jus run a obd2 check? Is this true or do they do a visual inspection or sniff test. What happens if you don't pass, I assume you're given a certain amount of time to make the vehicle pass?

yea they check to see if your cat is there if its not you automatically fail and you have i think 30 days to get fixed and you get thefirst recheck free.

Where in Georgia are you going to live? Some counties don't have emissions testing at all in Georgia. I live in Jones County and we don't have testing.

You should be able to pay your taxes without emissions, I just had to do this recently. My car failed emissions, and there wasn't any way to get it fixed before my Bday. So I just went to the tag office and paid the taxes for the year. Then when I pass emissions, I take that down along with my receipt for payment of taxes, pay my $20 for the tag and that's it. No need to reregister.

Downside is, you don't get your new sticker, but if you're out of state right now, I don't think that's going to matter.

And you can still pass emissions without a cat, most places don't check. Especially w/ OBD2, they just scan it. I've passed emissions before w/ no cat. This year I had a messed up sensor that was throwing a code.

Yeah the county I'm moving to does emmission testing. If all they do is a error code reading I'm set, if they check for a cat I'll have a small problem, but I think I can fix that with a little welding thanks guys
