Yes, just don't try to rev it out real high without doing valvesprings and retainers. It will get you higher compression without causing any piston to valve clearance problems unless your head has been milled a fairly large amount. You will see less benefit from doing this than you will with a good set of cams, a GOOD header, intake, exhaust etc. All of that stuff should be done first unless you are just having a problem with smoking from the rings and are going to have to take it down anyway. If the engine is fine, not using any oil, or smoking and you are just doing it for a modification, this is not the best place to start.
