headers can't be powerder coat it. It's going to be either Ceramic Coated or Jet hot coated. They gets too hot and powerdercoating won't hold.

    That's exactly correct.

Get them coated and call it a day. It reduces underhood temps anyway, so that's a bonus. They won't ever rust again too.

they have high temp powders (1000F sustained)

although the finishes are pretty crappy, and they do not hold up to abuse/water/mud/dirt/coolant as well as ceramic

My EGT's get in the upwards of 1700*F at WOT and around 1350*F on the interstate.

Either way, I would not recommend powdercoating anything exhaust related. And I don't even like heat wrap although I do use it on my own car. I would suggest Ceramic Coating!

I painted my heaters with high temp paint from auto zone. my headers were rusty and ugly. Scrubbed them with a wire brush to get the rust off, washed, and put 4 coats of high temp black paint for a nice glossy sexy look. All in all took about 20 mintues to do.

I seen that paint at AutoZone yesterday. For how long have you had it painted, any rust after the paint,or anything chipping off...etc

I just painted the headers a week ago, and they arent on the car yet but I put about 3 heavy coats on. Hopefully it will last.

It will withstand up to 500degrees, I guess booster cars would need a much stronger paint. I dont think my N/A motor will go above 500degrees.
