Bottom end is completed. Head got bumped back a bit due to an emergency situation that needed machine attention. Head should have the new valve guides in place hopefully by Monday/Tuesday. New prototype Rocket Motorsports valvesprings and titanium retainers are in. Need to decide on valves and get them ordered. Then it's just a matter of putting it together, getting a base map chip and installing it in the car. Hopefully by June 20th give or take a few days.

Man all my shit gets done at MSPi. I wouldn't have it any other way. I will be trying to tackle the install of the fresh long block. eek. Should be a learning experience one way or another. I'm getting excited like I'm getting a new car or something.

yehaa i built the bottom end monday night, waiting on the head to get back with new guides since he had a cracked guide. ordered ferrea valves today.

negative. This will max around 8900. lol. That should be about the top end of the effective power band. Anymore would be revving for the sake of revving. Keep in mind this is not a 1.6l anymore. 1.8 ftw.

we opted not to make this a high revving motor for longevity. his last motor revved to 10K an after 42k miles the oil pump failed. we went with a bigger disp motor to keep the revs down an have a more useable powerband

I do not think that pump failing would have happened again in a million years... just got lucky (or unlucky). In fact, I see more OEM pumps w/ the Toda/aftermarket oil pump gear failing than I do stock gear pumps. I drove up to Inline Pro to see progress on my block (well, actually I was already in VA visiting some old Air Force buds) and they use OEM pumps for all of their builds that are sub 450whp and sub 9500RPMs. I'd almost bet, that a NEW OEM pump could have taken it (the revs). I think that your pump was already gonna go whether you had it on your motor or mine. I think your pump was just done no matter if you were spinning to to 10k or 7k. Just one of those things. :(

he had a BRAND NEW OIL pump installed with a shimmed spring.

Oil pumps fail at high rpms, nothing you can do about it. If your lucky to get 45k miles out of a oil pump that has seen 9000+rpms, then you know something more than Skunk, DFE, RLZ an anyone else i know.

there is nothing he could have done short of replacing the pump. which we will prob make this a maintanence replacement every 30k or so to be on the safe side.

i honestly think the new champion will be Integ97, i have heard some rumors about his motor, an i think its going to be sick from the info that i know of. I dont think its really a streetable motor, but its going to make gobs of power.

I enjoyed my time at the top, but like all things, it has to end sometime, and their is ALWAYS someone building something better. My time was short lived, for personal reasons, but it was fun while it lasted. Georgia has some great motors coming out very soon, my old block is not done yet, im building it for another friend of mine with ITBs an a CNC Skunk2 head. it should make 250-260whp an be a beast.

Showoff! It will be nice to play w/ every1. I have not decided which chassis for my new motor... 91 EF (the teal green one, not my 90 Si--> red) or my 92 Si (currently SOHC). If I can sell the 92 Si though I will. I really do not know what the HELL I am doing b/c I am not focusing (SHUT UP 99Si!!!!!!). But I will figure it all out.

Absolutely. my heavy ass chassis making only slightly more power than you probably won't be much of a match but it should be interesting. I'm going to play it on the safe side and say I should hopefully be at 180-185whp/120-125lb/ft. Hopefully I will beat those numbers with what we're doing but just to cover the ol' butt I'll shoot for that.

Yep the 302 is what? 5 Liter? If it could make what an S2000 makes HP/L that would be 600 HP. And the Viper would be close to 1000HP.

sometimes they can. lol. 2800lb fox body making 500hp is 5.3lbs/hp. And there are plenty fox's out there weighing that and making more. 1800lb crx with 237whp is 7.5lb/hp roughly.
