damn, last time i checked $900 was pretty darn expensive, unless this is a ball bearing turbo we are talking about.
but anyways, what the brand of the turbo? I'd think that would matter moreso than if it came from ebay or an actual store.
Or is this one of the complete kits, if it is then yea, its cheap XS Power stuff that is known for bad quality, especially their manifolds, they crack rather easily. I would not go this route.
Looking for a shop that does quality work??
Mainstream Performance is the place to go
"Don't make excuses...make power"
i'm sure you mean one of the XS Power piles of crap... in that case you might as well cut to the chase and buy a blown up turbo and cracked manifold. actually the manifolds aren't that bad, but their turbos are made from metal concoction much like a hotdog is made of random bits of throwaway meat
. they are super crappy rebuilt turds that aren't matched well at all with the cars they go on. from what i've also heard their wastegates are inconsistent as hell, so boost spikes and fluttering become normal with those setups.
DO NOT BUY XS POWER this happened to a guy after 30 miles of driving
Both of my buddies had xs power turbos. one blew the very next day after his dyno, and the other one leaked oil on immediate start up. Dont waste your time n money.
buy turbonectics for $700 with a 1 year UNLIMITED WARRANTY
or
Buy Garrett
or
Buy Precision
i would not buy a turbo from EBAY EVER. most guys who claim "authorized dealer" status are full of shit. if you need a turbo, hit up Silviadrftr (turbonectis rep for NOPI) or Boostfed.com for a garrett or precision turbo.
also Batlground sells Precision and Garret turbos as well
