how to get power out of an LS engine?
wat parts are good and wats a waist of time!
i want like 250 HP.........should i go LS/V
i lost my lisence for 6 months so i want to get my engine rite before i drive again!
THANKS

I would say got ls vtec (GSR head)
PR3 pistons
ARP rod bolts (at the very least)
Hytech or RMF header
And some skunk pro 2's
Yeah what he said!
GeckoSquad / Skull Platoon
and what kind of powa can i get out of that
if i do LS/V then ill what to build it, what consist of a build!
cuold i get some.....
pistons
rods
new head gasket
seals
and call it a day or will i need more?
usually when i build a mtr, i get like .020 oversized pistons and have the cylinders bored and honed so the new rings can make their own seat. I also get the crank microspolished and get all new bearings (rob and main bearings). An oe headgasket will do for the power ur tryin got make. If u can, i would get ARP headstuds for extra support holding the head to the block. A new seal kit and depending on milage, a new oil pump and that should do it for the block. Now its time to move to the head.Originally Posted by hchbdx94
achieving 250whp on a LS is kinda far if its all motor, but with LS/Vtec its easier to accomplish. Start with your factory ls block (b18a/b18b) and prep it, meaning rebuilt with new internals to handle, depending on your budget or how serious you want it is what parts you will have to decide on. A mildly built is capable of 200whp easily. For example, b18b block with a PR3 head (B16, I do not recommend a P72 head (gsr) because of the clearance from the pistons). Using pr3 pistons or CTRs would def bump compression up to about 11.5 or so which is good for the money. Skunk2 stage 2 cams or PRO series are also recommended but kinda pricey so you can always go with CTRs or ITR cams. Basic bolt ons such as intake, header, exhaust, FPR, etc. with good tuning will help also. Really depends on the $$$$ dude, so if you got it like that then go for it. But just going LS all motor is quite a distance to reach 250whp. Good luck
oh so PR3 pistons is b16......o...ok
wats better skunk 2 or crower......cams?
crower is very aggressive depending on what application you choose, I used them once the 402a cams and they made my car idle crazy, I really didn't like them but yes they are good, but so far from what I've heard the new skunk pros are the shit.
ok
i jut want to do a mild build for now, i just dont want to blow the LS/V
thats what i guess i want to know what do i NEED TO DO to have a safe LS/V?
go boost. or ls/vtec. no all motor ls....lol
well ill boost lata but now just tryin to get powa b4
n i figured the ppl on this all mo forum know best about this, n then when i boost ill post in forged section!
wat do yall think bout LS/V boosted ne way
well like you said you are in the all motor forum.........boost is for pussies who cant be original, lol.........btw im going ls/vtec.....bout 70% there, lol
worst statement of the year!! How is a/m original? Is there only a handful of ppl doing it? I think not. To be original in boosting i made my own manifold (which i cant use til i redo in stainless) but its my own creation. What have/are u doing to be "original" in the a/m category? I bet everything on ur car came off the shelf meaning ur not the only noe with it. You lose SUCKER!!Originally Posted by Jdm94Coupe
250 out of an all-motor LS/VTEC, haha that's funny. I'd say thats a difficult task - easily $5K+
but good luck on trying to accomplish that, now if you had said 200whp, then that would have been a easier task.Originally Posted by KevinT707
ok well 200 then!
can i get some b16 pistons, some rods, bearings, seals and call it a day for a while!
refer to vteckidd's project log.
That comment shows your limited knowledge.Originally Posted by Jdm94Coupe

That was a joke! goofballs.....i was simply saying that he was in the all motor forum of course we gonna talk shit on boost.....see the lol after the comment, meaning it was a joke....sorry to make you guys all pushy...

i saw the lol, but dnt be joking around calling me, i mean guys with boost pussies bc thats just plain dangerous shit right thur. Just messing with you dude, er-thang cool.Originally Posted by Jdm94Coupe
But yeah, check with vteckidd bc all that all motor stuff my brain is hurting. I think i did pretty good for the most part getting u close to 200 hp being that i am still a turbo punk as of right now.
type R cams are the best cam for your for your LS/Vtec swap
i actually thought ctr cams were more aggressive.....
its really just the intake cam, the exhaust cam is identical to gsr's, and I'm not sure about how aggressive they are but I think they're about the same, I have ran ctr's before and currently running ITRs, not much difference to me except that the ctr's were louder in vtec.
lol, louder is better.....lol....gotta love vtec! i miss it, for now!
i belive that The CTR Cams has a lil bit bigger lift then the ITR.. really dont feel no differnt..
ppl say i shouldnt boost a ls/vtec
and they say just a ls would be better boosted
and both will be built
well stovers ls/vtec turbo made some serious power, nothin i seen from no ls motor boosted, but thats just me
Don't boost an LS motor unless you plan to go ahead and do forged rods/pistons. The LS rods are inherently weaker than a VTEC motor. They don't see the RPM's as a Vtec motor, therefore they are not as strong. Now if you are talking about 8psi max then yeah, you can do that. As far as making 250 whp from an NA lsvtec, ask Vteckidd how easy that is. He has about 8k+ in his motor and he made 237 at the wheels on his motor. Here's a nifty idea. Get a K24 from a TSX. To do the TSX swap is still pretty expensive, around $5K. You'll have as much Hp as a built B series with much more torque and when you get ready to boost it you'll have a tremendously better platform to start with. Then you can make serious power. Again it all depends on your budget. There is a sticky in the all motor forum about LS/Vtec and pretty much all that you need to knokw to get started. Good luck.
People say to boost LS motors because they have the lowest compression ratio of the B-series (i think? maybe the b20 has the same ratio). Theres nothing wrong with Boosting an LS/vtec. People make some serious power out of them. Look at Scotty's.
what did scotty make? I dnt know a scotty with a boosted ls/vtec.Originally Posted by LS2ner
o ok i see
do you think i can put some b16 pistons, rods, and seals and be fine for ls/vtec for a while? dont car bout what hp i can make rite now just want my swap safe and dont want to blow shit, so would that mild build (b16 pistons, rods, and seals) im talking work for my ls/vtec
I would just go with stock ITR internals, safe, reliable, and can handle very well, go talk to len at baranco acura and he can hook you up with all the parts.
well, to ppl he knowsOriginally Posted by Jdm94Coupe
