    Question Compression question

i done a compression test on my y7 last night and i am not 100% sure about it. On all 4 it showed around 165-170psi's. It this okay/good? i'm gonna be boosting soon. Just let me know.

compression test shows good. Your valves, pistons and rings are in good condition (meaning they are sealing well). If u have a vac/boost gauge, at idle ur gauge should read 18-22 in hg which also tell u how well ur internal are sealing. My new engine stared off idling at 10in hg and now its at 19in hg bc its had time for the rings to seat. kinda freaked me out at first bc ive built a few mtrs in my time but this was the very first one and has the biggest ring gap ive ever done.

compression test doesn't exactly tell all, but it's a good start. a leakdown test will really tell you what's going on in there.

you need to buy a tool and it basically uses compressed air to pressurize the cylinder. you can then determine if its leaking alot, and if so, where its going.. like through the valves, headgasket, rings, etc.
