Post have some questions about ls/vtec.

ok im building an ls/vtec here are my mods:
    b16 head from a 93 civic, milled .30
    type r internals
dont have cams yet(so give me options)
    itr IM
dont know what TB yet(so give me options)
dont know what cam gears(so give me options)
    rs machine pistons 81.5mm
b18b1 bottom internals bore for 81.5 pistons
going to get a gsr tranny.
    acl road bearings
    rmf narrow header
i want to get to 200whp but i know it will be very hard w/o porting just dont have that money right now.
good and bad just give me your opinion.

    thanks for the help allmotor-teg

Its actually not that hard with stock port head....TB i would go with 65mm-68mm,look into the skunk2 stage 2s or blox b's for cams(not really sure how big you are trying to go) gears just get some skunk2s or something, doesnt really matter. And get that bitch tuned.

by that you mean to leave the head alone, like not port it??
what about the brand for the tb???
as long as i make good power and can keep those things i already have for the build and its still realiable i dont mind.. not trying to spend loads of money on the few things i have to get. thanks allmotor-teg

you can get over 200whp without porting the head. Of course you need upgraded valvetrain to support the cams. As for brand theres skunk2,blox,edelbrock, etc..

the cams are actually the same....blox copied the skunk2s and named them different. Not sure on the retainers.

    type r springs retainers? sure
skunk2 stage 2 or blox b, either will be fine
    itr IM
63-65mm TB, any brand will suffice
AEM or Skunk2 camgears, 6 bolt versions
    rs machine pistons 81.5mm
b18b1 bottom, ARP rod bolts, shotpeen the rods and have the shop install/bored the bigend of rods
going to get a b16 tranny.
    acl race bearings
    rmf narrow header
i really cant assure you that you will make 200whp, maybe.. maybe not

but thats about the basics, have your builder check P2V/V2V clearance, jot it down and tune. and let'R rip

no cam is the same, and no cam is guaranteed power until you try it.

of course they are not EXACTLY the same, but thats what the blox b's are based off of. Just like their intake manifolds are copys of skunk2.

to the op go to honda-tech and look through the all motor section at all the graphs and setup and that will give you some ideas....

Skunk2 STAGE 2 cams are not going to give you 200whp on stock head. I would go with the Pro1s and try to get your compression to about 11.5:1 to 12.0:1. I did a 12.0:1 LS/v with stock B16 head and S2 Pro1's and it made 203whp with a ebay header and full exhaust. Make sure to get the cams degreed to match the motor.

I have personally seen blox cams with excessive wear no reason on Basic upgraded valve springs. Constantly going out of adjustment.
