R.I.P steven bond....
i always used the factory oem bearings. never had a issue with clearances with honda oem..
Lol do you have to check clearances? Come on...
ACL,CLEVITE,OEM as long as the clearance is right it really doesnt matter. I think the race bearings have a coating to help w/ heat and other things
The EMPIRE
ACL race bearings. The coating on them is awesome.
keep us updated on the build...thats only if you dont mind...
so your gonna put this motor in your civic?
lol you guys are retarded. ACL Race bearings HAVE ZERO COATINGS ON THEM, Bare Metal. This is why they are race bearings and also why they are nasty lookin out of the box, and they are thinner because of this (by a half a .001 or so) The standard ACL bearing (non race) are the ones with the coatings and they are half the price now a days.
Ive got some people to jack slap in here.

To the right are the Main bearings.. and to the left are the Rod bearings..
Mains DO have a coat.. and the Rods well the DONT but.. they seem to have a "slight" bit of what i would call "clear coat"...haha
This is not an argument.. I just think THESE are alot better than compared to Regular KING standard bearings..

Those must not be the race bearings, because all the mains and rods have the same black finish. At least on all of them that I bought.
the mains and rods in the race bearings are like the ones on the right, and that is not a coating, it says on the fucking box "race bearings have all the same quality and engineering but lack the final coatings"
I've used more sets of ACL bearings than I can ever count because i do builds for not just me and I replace them just about anytime the engines come apart. I know the fucking difference.
They use stronger metals in the race version but there are no coatings
