Smile What is the best deal you have gotten on a part?

Thankfully, I have gotten many of my parts for a cheap price. Without getting deals there is no way I would be able to afford the over priced parts that come along with the MINI/BMW name.

The best I've got is a brand new 19mm H&R rear sway bar, worth $230 and I got it for $80. And I love it! lol

What's the best deal you've gotten on a part?

I recently needed a VTEC solenoid, soo i went to the stealership to see how much it was going to be; and they quoted me $200.00 for it. So, of course, I jumped on here and posted a WTB. Ended up picking it up from some dude for $40.

and a LONG time ago.. i needed some better seats for my car, so some kid that i knew who was a friend at the time, prettymuch gave me some essentially perfect DC2 seats for $10.

That is a pretty good deal too. My Camaro just needed a new factory lip and sideskirt kit, and paint. Also a had few rust problems but they could have been fixed.

Neither did I until I walked up to a guy who had the Camaro sitting in the yard for months. Asked him if he would sell it and he said about 10 people asked the same thing. He said no each time in hopes to restore the rest and give it to his grandson. The kid told him he wanted a Jeep so he got him that instead and sold me the car for $1000

Let me see for my car:
*144 man hours of labor to build the car back up after I crashed(14 people working for 8 hours for a day, then 2 people working for 8 hours for two more days)--free
*More comfortable Series 3 seats -- free
    *FC shift knob -- free
*new unopened stainless steel clutch line & short shifter --$20
    *a motor -- free
*grant GT steering wheel w/ hub -- free
*full set of black 13 by 6 meshies w/ polished lip -- ((-$40) yes negative 40, I got paid because they sold me a set that was the wrong bolt size for $40, and they gave the correct ones for another $40 and I sold the other one's for $120, giving me a $40 profit overall)
*clean low mile shell -- $500
    *brand new radiator -- $50
    *dual sheath alternator pulley --$10
    *power window motor -- free
*exterior molding and trim -- free
*door handle and linkages -- free
*brand new clutch friction plate -- free
    *misc coolant hose -- free

I'm probably missing a bunch but that's 9 free things(10 if you do count all the help I got from eager friends and such), and even one thing I got $40 for.

Knowing a community of super nice Rx-7 guys with TONs of parts cars and need for space has its benefits.

they had the texas warehouse, even when they were in Augusta. They closed down, I guess, to not enough business, or not making enough money. Then all their inventory went to Texas. It was fun having JHOT nearby.

When I was building the motor in my Miata I was missing a LOT of stuff for the crank and a guy drove from Atlanta to my house same day and gave me all I needed for free. Literally drove, dropped parts off, and left.

Also once someone donated to me a racing seat, Simpson harness, fire system, Fuel Safe fuel cell, steering wheel, Autometer tach, gloves, nomex underwear, and a shit load of boxes more.

I also got my first Civic for basically free for helping a family friend cut down a couple of trees in their yard.
