    Default turbo question

    what turbo would you guys recommend for my engine?? Goals are around 375-410WHP

    engine specs = base engine type I-5 2.5 liter inline 5 cylinder...max torque @ 1500 and max horses at 5000 (outa the gates) im not sure what the stock turbo is but im pretty sure its a modified borg warner KKK

    can fab my own mani etc
    and they said "inline 5's would never work"

    best bets would be volvo forums.

    It just depends on how much you'd like to spend, but i'd go with a GT2871R

    yeah thats the thing, hehe im on every volvo forum inculding the old school one...and theres been like 7 people who put in an after market turbo into S40 and a couple s60r's (as far as im aware no one has actually put in the ATP kit into a c30 other than ATP themselves, but they wont give any information about what tune they used, how they got the power to the ground they said literally "we put the kit and and got 500 hp")....and all of them used ATP's kit, i like atps kit and contacted them but i was just wondering if yall thought any other turbos would be better suited if i had the mani and everything custom made....OH and the GT 28 wont get me 375, the gt30 will tho (the other atp kit)

    get a Gt30 i'll giv you the power you need, tunning wise i would say get megasquirt, if you got to turbobricks.com start a thread in the performance section and ask, alot of smart asses on there so dont mind them, ask linuxman51 what he thinks

    Bullseye S256 (Borg warner based) will get you there, don't think you will see max torque at 1500 though. Smallest housing is the .55 AR stainless turbine housing, but still not going to make max torque by 1500. It is right around a 30R sized turbo, maybe a bit bigger. We have had good success with it on 2.5 motors (subaru) and in fact are putting one on a Sti right now.

    there's a guy on IA named Boosted S60R - send him a PM. he's done a lot of custom work to his volvo and last time i spoke with him it was making around 400whp. i forgot what size turbo he went with...but he might have some knowledge for ya...

    his names mike, heheh his engine blew up and now the company he is getting a racing engine has taken over 2 years...he did the ATP kit and than aded nitrous i dont think im going that route.

    and will megasquirt work with can.bus??

    If you look down in this area, I started a thread that has a link to a turbo calculator where you can play around with lots of different compressor maps. Hope that helps.
