    Default RS Machine Pistons

    I am wanting to do a b20/vtec motor for my da, and i was wanting to get the 84.5mm dome rs machine pistons with for built, but i do not know what the compression is going to be with a gsr head. The motor is going to be in my daily driver, so i don't want the compression to be extremely higH. I want the compression to be at about 11:5:1 or at the max of 12:1:1 compression.

    The setup I was thinking about:
    84.5mm Rs machine Pistons
    ls rods with the arp rod bolt and cryo treated
    acl bearings
    gsr port and polished head and 3 angle valve job
    omni high compression valves
    skunk 2 dual valve springs
    skunk 2 pro series retainers
    blox b cams
    Hytech header

    Out of this setup.. I am trying to get at least 200whp. I am open for suggestions.


    Another issue that i have been trying to figure out is that the only thing that you have to do to ls rods is get them cryo treated and have arp rod bolts and i am good to go to rev to about 9500.

    I would drop the flat face pistons since you're going with a gsr head (might put you out of pump gas range). Since you're using oem rods, I wouldn't take that motor to 9500 (and I doubt you would be making power up there anyways). So I would rev it within my power range.

    When it comes to valve train, rule of thumb is match brands. If your cams are skunk2 get skunk2 springs and retainers, so since you're planning on running blox cams, you should be fine with their springs and retainers (and that's going to save you some $$$). Everything else seems fine.

    As for your original question, I believe those piston in 84mm size and a stock gsr head gives you about 12:1 c/r

    I am not trying to get into not running pump gas. i am trying to get the compression to the max of 12:1, but i was thinking that i could use the ls rods and use get them cryo treated and use arp rod bolts.. and i am good to go and rev to at least 9500. I am not saying that, that is what i am going to be revving at, but i am wanting the motor to be able to do that..

    what would you suggest in my setup too get to at least 200 to the wheels..

    i was thinking about getting the skunk2 pro 2 cams, but i am not sure if i should be driving everyday with the cams, and i am not sure that i would pass emissions with these cams..but i think as long as my a/f is good i should pass emissions if i go that way.

    Don't take those rods to 9500 ever, not a wise idea unless you just wanna throw one out of the block. You ain't gonna get 200 whp more than likely with blox b cams, they are just type r remakes for the most part. 12:1 cr is still pretty do-able on pump gas.

    Why do you want your motor to rev to 9.5k? Just to say you can? You rev your motor where it makes power.

    As for cams, both skunk2 tuner series and pro series cams are proven. I would lean more toward the tuner series 2's. There are plenty of people making good number with those cams.

    i do understand the whole thing about making power.. but i am just seeing if the rods can take it.. i am a person that likes power and i know that i would upgrade later when i am ready to maybe some skunk 2 pro 2's or something very aggressive like that, and that being said.. that is why i ask..

    i am not a person to just build motors and just say that my car can rev to 9500 rpm, i am just wanting to see if i do ever make power up there will the rods be able to with stand it.. that is all.. i am not that much of a noob when it comes to building motors.. but i have never build a motor for na.. only for turbo'd motors..
