i just wanted some opinions on rather i should just rebuilt the d16y8 in my 96 civic ex or put my b18 ls in it. for the ls i'd need tranny and mounts and all that fun stuff. or just selll it and rebuild the d maybe a little something here and there to make it a little bit more fun. lmk what you think!

I say do a mild build on the D. Maybe a low boost daily driver. Only why I say this is because, its like everyone usually goes with a LS swap. Not saying they're not good swaps. Just, that they are to common.... Just my opinion. But then again, I know they're some nice D-series cars out their. Just seems not as common as the B-series. Or, you could do a NA D16 mild build to have some alright Hp & Tq for a DD street car. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the OEM pistons out of a 1st gen integra will raise your compression up close to the Type-R compression. Already a power adder their. Then maybe a cam, intake mani, and some simple bolt-on's and you're set.

how much do you think a bottom end rebuild be? with the 1st gen teg pistons? just ballpark new bearings and all.. i'm thinkin doin what you suggested. i think that a na build will be more reliable than boostin it. although i'd love to do that. i know i'd get carried away with it and end up throwin tons of money into it and still prob blowin it lol.

d-series.org would be your n/a source but you can have alot of fun from a midly built d! trust me i know

exactly, there is a lot of potential in the sohc motors, may not lay down what the b series do, but they're just as fun.

you can get real close to 200whp with good head work and a nice cam such as bisi on a dseries the power is mainly coming from the head as is with any motor.

i was going to do a built d with bisi head but changed my mind due to other shit that came up but me personally i would go wih pg6 pistons from th 86-87 integra due the pistons rings tend to crack on p29s

honestly its up to you....me personally i would do the the ls,just cause its got decent hp and tq.Then in the future you want to try boost then put 8lbs on it and a good tune and you got a really fun daily...

thats what i'm lookin for but how much would a n/a d-series build be? she's got some miles on her so i def wanna go through the bottom end and replace the bearings and all and freshen it up a good bit. should i mill the head or deck the block? i just need a really reliable build that will hold some miles while having some fun.also replace the valvetrain i'm not lookin for hardcore race parts but something that will last.also i haven't built a honda motor from the ground up and i want to find someone that will help. but i want to learn it all. i know a good bit just not confident enough to do it by myself thanks guys for any help

Well if you do a rebuild and take the head off, of course you need to get the head milled. Its like cheap insurance. And go ahead and replace the head studs, etc. As far as price's of everything costing....I have no idea. I guess it all determines what parts, names and quality, you buy.

reason i say this is because i had a b16 i put a shit load of money into only to make 175whp and 114 wtq d series make just as much trq as bseries seeing as that they have the same stroke as a ls

Yeah I would do a mild build on the D series. Vitara pistons, forged rods, and piece together a log manifold kit and shoot for like 220-250 hp.

If you have it tuned well it WILL be just as reliable as N/A.
