I consider the GT40 to be a British car.

It was designed by Lola using the Lola GT as a base.
The prototype, MK1 and MK2 were built in John Wyers shop in England.
80% of them are right hand driver.

It wasn't till Carrol Shelby did the car that it had American in it. The Mark IV was an all american GT40 though.

Oh, and then there are the cars that came even before that.
