    Default Help Please: E-Brake light came on out of nowhere.

    Well yesterday I was driving from Woodstock to Gwinnett to meet someone for some axles, Halfway on Hwy 92, My E-Brake light came on the Instrument Cluster, But was very Dim, Not like when Im parked and my E-brake is pulled up... Its very Dim, I check the Fluids on my Brake master Cylinder, But the Fluid level was normal and at the top of the Reservoir...

    I check the tightness of my E-brake cable, and took off my rear calipers to see if the E-brake cable was stuck, but it wasnt..

    I dont know what else to do..

    Its annoying, Im think about taking out the E-Brake Bulb behind the cluster..

    I've owned this car for about 2 years and Now it just came on out of nowhere, no Seriously braking or Pulling up the E-brakes, or Powersliding at all... Its weird... I've searched and searched... I cant figure it out..

    If someone can please help me with this, I will Triple Rep you if I can...

    Anyone know of any good brake shops that would diagnose it for little cash?
    Or Would know why my E-brake light came on and is Dim? Its not bright like when the E-Brake Handle is pulled up.. Its Dim...

    brake fluid is perfect checked that already.. And checked the rear disk and ebrake cables also

    check the e brake switch under the lever. it just might be stuck closed.

    unplug the wire going to the e-brake lever. if it goes off, the problems in the in the lever switch.

    Just found out, it was The Sensor., Now I need a Brake Master Cylinder cap, thanks to you all.. Ill rep when I get home, This computer is touch screen at work, and is a bitch to rep.. Promised... thanks, Ill go buy a new cap and ill see if thats the Case...

    Okay Update, Just bought a Brand New OEM Brake Master Cylinder cap with Male and Female sensor plugs, (Black/Green w/ yellow stripe)...

    I replaced it and the Dim E-brake light is still on...

    I tried keeping one plug unplugged and the light went away, and I went into the car and pulled up the ebrake the E-brake light works and comes on Bright...

    And I tried plugging both plugs in, and Taking the cap off the reservoir and the E-Brake light comes on bright...

    I cant get the Damn DIM e-brake light to go away without unplugging one or the other Reservoir cap sensor plugs... Im confused.. My brake fluid is at the right Level I know that for a Fact..

    Will take Pictures tonight if I cant figure it out...

    leave it unplug then? its not that hard to check too see if your fluid is low later

    you reset your ecu after all that? might work. could be a faulty wire somewhere or bad ecu. but i doubt it.

    I did that, I took off the negative terminal for about 10 minutes just for the hell of it... and Plugged it back and its still on... Some kinda Weird shit.. After 2 years of driving this car, all of the sudden it came on out of no where... I never wired anything up to it, nor did I wire up a system or amp or anything.. So I know theres no wires touch it or grounded different..

    It just might be the fluid level even though it looks full. Same thing happened to me. Just fill some in.

    I filled it till it was to the top where as if I were to put on the cap it would overflow. Trust me its not the fluid level.

    Sorry I already saw that, I know I dont have any leaks in my lines, brake fluid never goes low, and plus I have a New reservior cap now.

    Get a new float. The little foam piece that cost like 2 dollars. Cold weather and it being old causes it to not float thus causing the sensor to think you are low on brake fluid. And if that doesn't work, then I'm sorry, but it was just a few dollars.
