*HELP* Tow vehicles opinions and experience

How about the 99-03 F350's that had the 7.3 Powerstroke dually? They are priced right and have a freaking freight train engine...lol

if i were getting a ford then that's what i would get is a 7.3...had 2 and never had a problem out of them except for a turbo on one.


had 3 6.0's and had headlift on all three...from word on the street and on diesel forums the newest 6.4 is the same problem...but the 7.3 is a brick outhouse in my and most people's opinions that tow

i will admit though that all my problems were self inflicted cause of programmers, bigger injectors and the like.... just saying cause you said you cant leave them alone and mod also...but 7.3's are great

Sweet, now it's all about finding one that hasn't been modded much. I even like the exterior look of that series. The interior amenities (radio/nav/sat/back-up cam) can all be added later.

I've seen a couple of them with 100K miles for around $15-$18K... Not sure if that is a good price right now? I need to find a dealer that is sitting on a shit load of inventory thatw ants to dump cars and make great deals. That is the guy that is going to make the deal right now I would think. I would imagine if a private seller wanted to sell their truck they would want the most $$$ they could extract...

anytime bro...most of the diesel forums say the exact sme thing and you can get a 7.3 to get some excellent mpg as well....def opt for the backup cam when you can, makes it soooo much easier hooking up to trailers especially big ones when you have to be spot on to hook up... i even have one mounted inside my sliding rear window to hook up my gooseneck double car hauler...just flip a switch to go from tag frame to bed cam

Do you think a gooseneck is the way to go? What are the positive and negative aspects of trailering one of those?

for towing it is the best way...lil more bothersome to hook up but nothing totes better than goose or 5th wheel. i like goose cause there's only a ball in the bed and depending on hitch even that is removable...5th wheels are removable but heavy and when in most of your bed is useless

only downside to goose also is for a shorthaul lets say from my place up to mainstream....takes a few more min to hook up just to go up there to drop car off but still if i could change my shortbed car to goose or trade for one even i'd do it in a heartbeat...tows better and you can really manuever(sp?) it into almost anywhere b/c you can turn past 90 degrees like a big rig

only thing to get use to is the angle on turn in b/c the ball is in bed so the trailer turns short....plain english turn a lil wide and watch where the trailer follows...mainly right turn so you dont run up on a curb
