    Default all motor ls burning a lot of oil

    my car is losing alot of oil no spots underneath car when siting. smokes a little black which is rich. but i cant figure out where all my oil is going. im losing about .5 every 500 miles

    it is untuned

    mods all new

    oem pr3 pistons
    all oem gaskets seals and rings
    crower 404 cams
    crower springs and retainers
    ported head
    unorthadox pulley
    act prolite flywheel


    so is this normal?

    Inspect the plugs, check the compression and come back to tell your findings.

    check cams seal, crank seals, cam plug, take your exhaust header off and check the ports see if its wet ( if it is then your valve stem seal). And who ported the head? Might also want to get the head inspected for cracks.

    My car used to smoke alot at high rpms black smoke.I believe it had somthing to do with the head.

    yeah i had the head inspected and had new valve stem seal put in it suposidly. before the build. but i cant figure out where it is going it does smoke at higher rpms. but i dont think it should lose this much oil.

    if it smokes at higher rpms, its most likely head-related as opposed to rings. 1/2qt per 500 miles isnt THAT bad though.

    true...im loosing about 1/2qt every 2-3 days. buring and leaking...bad part is someone "rebuilt" it...

    and agreed..check your plugs. do you have oil on the tips of the spark plugs?

    Its not leaking its burning it!

    mine was caused by blown valve seals
    2007 Civic FA1 and 2005 Yukon XL Denali

    Mine burns a lil oil in the upper rpm range. My solution was to stop ragging the sh*t out of it everyday......

    seems to be almost typical of a built LS to drink a little oil.

    I know it's not correct for it to do it, just typical.

    Mine does as well, not as badly though. There's good advice in this thread, pay attention to it.
