Go to TOPSPEED they tune Megasquirt...Originally Posted by meengreenPGT

Adjust the pressure to about 45 psi idle and run the Millenia S injectors. What's your whole set up?Originally Posted by meengreenPGT

They are decent set-ups. Once mine was tuned, I had zero problems out of it and they are based in Atlanta. They are nice to talk to on the phone as well.
But any of the places listed in this thread are more than capable. Top Speed, Mainstream and Batlground. Take your pick. There are others as well.

I saw "Megasquirt" as the title and "Tracy" as the poster from the forums homepage... and I want my click back.
False advertisement man.
Batlground. Dan is a genius.
Yeah I'm gonna get a 255 pump, millenia s injectors and an AFPR before I take it in and get it completely tuned. Thanks for the replies guys.
The MS works great. I've got the MS PNP for my Miata and we run one in our Lemon's car too

No MS is all good... What I am talking about is the HALL sensor in my distributor, the wiring harness for that got fried, so I need to rplace it. It goes all the way to the MS..Originally Posted by siegelracing
I went to batlground for my tune. I think I'm gonna go to mainstream next though. Batlground was ok but I got charged for 3 hours of dyno time when it took him about an hour just to get in my MS system. So I actually only spent about an hour and 15 min on the dyno doing runs. Plus my car seems to run worse now then it did before. In 1st and 2nd gear or lower rpms my car jerks and lunges a bit now.
This is Dan, the tuner at Batlground.Originally Posted by meengreenPGT
1. Just to be honest, your car was actually on the dyno for 4 hours but I charged you for 3 hours of dyno rental and gave you 1 hour for free. Dyno rental is not just doing pulls, its the time that the car is on the dyno. I have a clock by the dyno that I look at when I start and when I finish. You had lots of issues with your car and it takes time to figure them out.
2. I made it very clear in the nicest way possible that because you did not have the software or any documentation on your megasquirt it would take longer to figure out what hardware, firmware and software version you had and needed to tune your car.
3. Unfortunately, you had a firmware version in your megasquirt that is no longer available so I had to search for it on the internet until I found it.
4. Sadly, Your injectors are going static and you need to solve that problem first. You stated that you would rather me put as much fuel in it so that it would be safe until you fixed the problem. It was running above 14:1 air fuel on boost when it came in.
5. Last, I suspect that your coil is weak because when I made the car richer it began to sputter and not run correctly. You said that this was ok and you would deal with it until you fixed the fuel. After you fixed the fuel you could tell if the coil was bad.
I am sorry that you feel the way you do and I hope that the larger new injectors will fix the problem and that the coil will have enough energy to throw the spark at the proper air fuel ratio. I am sure that the guys at Mainstream will take great care of you if you choose to dyno your car there.
Sincerely,
Daniel Willie

Just because your car isn't on and doing pulls doesn't mean that you don't get charged for it sitting on the Dyno. Let me put it an easier way.
If you sit in a hookers bed talking, your ass is getting charged. You don't get free time just cause you ain't porking. Time is money buddy.
Tracy.....keep this between you and I, Dan might get mad. I got a Megasquirt I need tuned....it seems to go off everytime it gets around a girl after a 3 minute delay.![]()

I know a guy that has the exact same setup as me besides bigger injectors and he has no problem boosting to 10psi.
I understand your frustrations and I hope you understand those of the shops. You need to look at it from a different perspective, a business person's perspective. I mean all of this in thee nicest way possible.Originally Posted by meengreenPGT

–If you make an appointment for tuning, it's not just how many times your car makes a pull, it's all of the other things that go along with tuning – such as, diagnostics and trouble shooting of a car getting tuned.
–It's the customers responsibility to know what he has going on if the shop didn't start the build on the car. If you don't and you want to pay the tuner to do the research for you, it's $150/hr because, again, time=money.
Any busy, reputable shop you patronize will have similar policies. Like I said, it is an ongoing issue where people make an appointment to dyno and aren't really prepared to dyno and the shops end up losing money with issues like this if they are not addressed with strict policy. That being said, it sounds like he gave you an hour for free despite policy. Which wold make up for him searching for the firmware. The other issues with the car still need to addressed before and during tuning and that time taken to do that = money.
For the future, you need to realize that modding cars is a delicate thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. It's an expensive hobby and will wipe you out if you don't take the time to do your own research and know what you have going on with your car. Tuning is not the "solve it all", so if your car is running funny, don't assume that a tune will fix it, although it just might.
Also, please keep in mind that even if 2 cars have the exact same set up, they can still act differently and have different issues with different symptoms. You should NEVER use your friends car as your ONLY benchmark when it comes to diagnostics.

After working on a few minor street tunes with it I had a chance to attend a couple seminars and dinner with the megasquirt founder(s) and software engineers and I was really impressed with it...plus their ambition, motivation, and excitement behind their products. The capabilities are easily comparable to MoTec which will run a minimum of $8-10k with a harness & sensors and you're stuck working on what looks like a DOS based spread sheet. I crewed for a NASA/Honda Challenge team a few years ago and I thought the coding and blue screen of death was archaic even then, lol! But it worked for us better than Hondata ever had.
Megatune, Megatunix, etc. however is probably one of the best looking and most user friendly setups on the market and I'm contemplating running the EMS Pro on my project car.

4 hours for a turn key tune from start to finish is not that uncommon, especially when having both software and hardware issues like you had. Until you fix the problems stated then the car will probably continue to get worse. (I'm not affiliated with them or any other shop)Originally Posted by meengreenPGT

It always sucks when your car isn't ready to tune.I'm sorry to hear that. It happens a lot though. The good thing about the dyno is that it's not just for tuning, it can also be a great diagnostic tool, as well. Hope you get it worked out soon and good luck with it At least now you have some place to start.

Wow. Sup Dan and Tracy.
BTW, meangreenPGT I got your PM from PT, I just gotta find the other 3 injectors of which I haven't had the time to look for. Being that I've been around the KL series engines for a while I can tell you that if you plan on running 10 psi on that engine, the stock fuel pump won't take it. You might wanna consider going with a walbro 255 pump + an AFPR. I'll send you a PM later on dealing with the matter but I would love to see your entire setup. I guess I'll see it when I get you the injectors.
K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.
^^Me and my buddy usually drive over to Alabama and let Kenny (linuxman on the brick board) tune it. That dude could damn near tune the volvo's in his sleep. And he's reasonable too.

^^^Whenever you want to come take a look at the car just shoot me a PM. Oh yeah, I do have an upgraded fuel pump and clutch as well as a AFPR. Dan thinks 280cc won't be enough so I'm looking into Nissan 370cc injectors right now.
