Default Looking for a sticky tire for Daily use

I am in the market for 4 new tires. I am comming off the factory Goodyear Eagles and want something that likes to take the turns more. Tread life is a factor, but if I can get 12K miles out of them, that would be acceptable.

I guess I'll stick with the factory 275/40/17s since I'll still be on the factory wheels. Two tires that I have in mind are the Falken azenis RT-615 and the Kumho Ecsta XS.

Anyone have any input on a good sticky daily tire?

Yokohama Advan Neova. There is nothing better until you step to DR's.

I hear good things about Hankook RS-2. 200 treadwear and they are sticky from what my friend tells me; he has them on his E36 M3.

By DR you must mean drag radials right? He wants to take turns too so I hope you don't take turns in drag radials..

I've run DR's on the street, but I was simply making reference to how sticky Neova's are.

Unfortunately, they don't offer the ADVAN Neova in 275/40/17...Ive been finding this with quite a few tires...

Time to step up to some 18's, and use those 17's for the drag strip or something.

well, I have 17" wheels. I dont know if yall have priced wheels & tires compared to just tires lately, but buying tires alone is a lot cheaper.... My wheels are 17x9 so I will put whatever fits nicely on there, but I was wanting to keep factory size to keep an accurate speedo/odometer reading. I would like to have all 4 tires the same size for rotation purposes.

while they do make those tires in my size, it seems that no one has them. Also, after reading the reviews, i've found that they are noisey as hell.

Falken RT615. I had them on my FC and they were awesome. They wear kinda quick if you drive them hard.

I think thats what I'll end up going with. Someone actually told me lastnight that he thinks they suck, but then he mentioned that he HATED taking turns...I think it had something to do with the fact that he was wanting DR type traction for a tire built for the corners...

he's trying to get off Eagles for a softer stickier compound, lower tread life is that payoff. I had Falken FX-425s on my old FC, they were great in the dry or wet.

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

Have you looked into the Dunlop Star Spec Z1?
The Falkens get very hard when they start getting old... you'll think you're driving on all-seasons.
I've been pretty happy on my Nitto Neo Gens.... but also look into the Nitto NT555 street tires. Oh, what about the Nitto NT01? Toyo R888? Pirelli Corsa? Michelin Pilot Sport? Advan A048?

Old post, but I reccomend Falkien Azenies (sp?). I can't spell tire names lol. But, I run them on the front of my FC for my drift set up and damn those bad boys stick. Work great in rain too. Its kind of a common tire to run of front for the drifters, but I had a set on my Jetta MK2 and it was just incredible how much those tires stuck to the road with an old VW.

nankang ns2 hands down the best cornering tire per buck. You have to be borderline retarded to make them even give that sound those other tires make when taking a turn hard let alone break them loose. It just corners like mad.

drag racing tho...they are majorly FTL. vertical traction is shit. Expect road noise too. Last about 30,000 miles of normal-hard driving.

Also you will get used to going over 90 in the rain.

    good luck

Really?...you're swearing by an "H" rated tire?...you sure? I mean, they corner well cuz they're soft as mud nuts and each time you corner, you're tearing a few thousand miles away. I've had the NS IIs on my 89 SHO, and whereas they were kinda "grippy" around curves *not so much corners*, they wore CRAZY *like less than 20K on the set with bi-monthly rotations*, sounded like I was riding on striated roadways ALL THE TIME...the drone was louder than my Dynomax exhaust without a resonator, and when it rained...LOOK OUT!

I'd say bang for buck, Nexxen N3000s, Mastercraft Courser HTRs, or if you don't mind the extra change, the Toyo Proxes 4!

yea u mentioned alot of the issues of the ns2. However it may be H-Rated it still rocked balls and i had no issues going over 150 in them. I have the nexxen n3000s on my car right now and absolutley HATE them. I now have torque steer, squealing around turns, but i have a quiet daily driver in their defense.

rain was actually good on those tires. I guess u didnt get the 245s. They are soft because the compound of the treadwear allows for the abuse. I have the Z-rated n3000s and they are fricken tough as hell and wont stick well.

Nah, I have the NSIIs in 235/45/17. But hey, no ECONOMY tire is going to supply you with all of your wants and wishes...that's why Michelins and Bridgestones, and continentals and Goodyears cost so much.

N3000 is a very nice curve tire...but as you mentioned, moreso are QUIET! The torque steer comes because they grip well out of the holeshot! If you can heat cycle them properly (do a burnout or two) before you go on your spirited drive, most of your other concerns with them will go away.

OH, and I'd cringe to think of a NSII going over 120..so I gotta call BULLSHIT. I got mine up to 125 in the SHO and I heard a roar from the tires I'd NEVER heard before..what car did you have them OVER 150mph in?

Hold up...was that YouTube video supposed to prove you topped 150mph? I didn't see a speedo...infact, the Cobalt SS speedo only dials to 140. Look, let's not get into this. DO YOU ACTUALLY KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GO 150mph?

^^ shut the fuck up, both of you. this thread isnt about what cobalt can hit 150. the dude is asking about PERFORMANCE SUMMER TIRES, and not only did you come in here talking about your p.o.s. nankang and whatever other bullshit tire, now you jacked his thread. GTFO-------------------------------------->

anyways, go with the falkens. they are great bang for the buck and will last 1000000 times longer than the hankooks and toyos.
