Thumbs down Wow Thanks Pep Boys, yall f****d up my car

Never go there, they loosened my lug nuts and one of my wheels pretty much fell off while i was driving and it ruined 3 of my lug studs....

Took my car to PepBoys to have them look at my car cuz it still has a few bugs in it from the recent swap, and later on that day, i felt heavy clunking in the front end, and i smelled burning rubber. Me and the friend i was drivin, pull off the road. look at the wheel, and its got 2 lugs broken off, and the other 2 VERY loose. My wheel basically fell off. Now, i hav to kinda get some work on the car, to the level of what most ppl would consider "MAJOR" work. Reason i smelled rubber is cuz the tires were rubbin on the inside of the fender cuz my car is so low. If i hadnt smelled the rubber, or if my car wasnt so low, my wheel woulda gone rolling up the street instead of gettin trapped in the fender...

And i know it was because of them, due to the fact that earlier that day, i checked my lugs and they were all okay....then after PepBoys took a look, i have to now take my wheel hub off the car, have the bearings pressed out, and re-install the new lug studs, then re-install the wheel hub back on the 'teg...

NEVER HAVE PEP BOYS WORK ON YOUR CAR!! i think there was a recent post about other bs work advising people not to use them. Also if you had bugs from a swap why in the hell would someone trained off a computer or a week long course know how to fix it?

naw, i just wanted them to take a look at my cars overall condition and i wanted them to hook up a timing light and re-do my ignition timing so it'd be more accurate.

Lol, they didnt/couldnt even do that much, and i almost got into an argument with the front counter guy too

I took My 90 gt mustang to them one time and it had a new magnaflow exhaust set up with shorties and x pipe on it. The reason it was there was for a new set of tires and i had to ask the manager to ask the tech to stop revving the balls out of my car because i was sitting right in the waiting room. Morons.

I only go there to get alignments. I give them the specs, they do it, and don't bitch about how low my car is.

A.) I don't believe your claim at all to be honest, because if it were true Pepboys would be paying for the damages done to your car. I WORK in a tire shop and that's one of our biggest no-no's, allowing a car to go out with a wheel loose. Could it happen? Yes, and in the event it does, that shop will pay for the damages, as long as you actually follow their procedure, which isn't that hard. Most likely you've done something boneheaded like NOT call them as soon as it happened, especially if the wheel came loose the same day.

B.) Why in the hell would you take it to Pepboys to have them redo your timing? I do know plenty of guys who could do it for you at Pepboys, many of them being ASE certified mechanics. The problem is that you should be smart enough that you can do it yourself, considering how easy it is to do for your car. If you don't have a timing light, you could always rent one (Most Advanced/Autozones could probably do that for ya) or borrow one from a friend.

C.) If you REALLY cared about your car, you would have checked your lug torque before you set off after having the wheels off anyways. Not that hard to ask them to borrow the torque wrench and a socket and hit all the lugnuts quickly. Especially on Hondas with aftermarket wheels, they are NOTORIOUS for the lugnuts slipping loose even when tightened to manufacturer spec's.

I realize this very much. I wonder why i didnt just think to take my car to one of mehcanic that i knew better.....hm. I figured, its because the previous car that i had, i took to them to have an evaluation, they gave me the news on my car, and i went on about my merry way.

I hope you went back to the store to confront them about it.

They'll pay for damages if this is their fault.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA you went to PEP BOYS!?!?!?!?! lololololololzzzzzzzzzzz

    -Ant.

EDIT: So you went there to let them look at your swap, do you honestly think they would have the slightest clue as to what they were even looking at???

Take it to a professional. Yeah, maybe you will pay more, maybe even less. But at least they know what the fuk they are doing.

Pepboys should pay for it. I had a wheel come off after Butler tire put tires on my truck. They paid for the parts. They would have paid for it to be towed and fixed but I had already fixed it.

why would they have to bother the wheels to check the timing?
I asked a girl if i could buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesnt matter.
