    Default Boost on auto tranny?

I'm posting this for a friend. He has an automatic tranny and wants to know if you can put a turbo on it. If you can, he would like to know how much boost (does not want to go crazy wit hp)

I'd say that if you have to ask a question like that, then you (and your friend) are better off doing some more research before attempting to turbo charge a vehicle. And to answer youor question, yes, an automatic tranny will work with a turbocharged engine. It's just a matter of how much HP the tranny will handle, and how much HP your doing to be pushing after the turbo install. You'll have to research on your particular trany to see how miuch power it can handle.

Yes you can turbo an automatic just as you can turbo a standard tranny car.

In order to handle the added power I would reccommend having the automatic (tranny and torque converter) flushed and filled with synthetic automatic transmission fluid. Next go to Autozone and pick up a cheap Hayden ATF oil cooler to keep your tranmsission temps down. If you're feeling fancy rig up a thermostat to it, or just hook it up in line after the stock cooler. Get a tranny temp gauge and find out how to install it (most modern transmissions have diagnostic test ports that fit temp probes rather well).

Be safe with the car and always let your transmission cool down for 5-10 mins between WOT runs and you'll be fine.
