I had a skunk2 STS break off at the ball and leave me stranded lol. I wasnt even shifting hard at the time it broke. However my stock shifter that got reinstalled has been going 17+ years strong.

HAHA ricers and beaners FTW. one of the worst ways that i could think of is when someone welds a aftermarket muffler on. i dont car if its a 1000 dollar muffler its not a cat system. i mean cmon it sounds like sheet and feels like sheet. it's just not the whole catback exhaust system. alot of them sounds like fart when they drive by and they dont even know it LOL damn mufflers.

Like people that lower cars but still ride around on steelies/hubcaps with stock tires?

HID + non HID compliant lamps = FAIL! Just because you think it looks cool to have really extremely cool colors coming from your lights means it's actually safe. The light pattern that is projected with diamond reflector type headlamps and projectors is way more controlled vs. the standard halogen lense, which scatters the light pattern and thus blinds everyone else on the road. I hope you get a ticket a thousand times over.


Short throw shifters, unless there was some real engineering put into, in short is an overall dumb idea. The whole intent of the STS is to reduce the throw of the shifter thus increasing the speed time of gear selection in between gears which means if you increase the length below the pivot point, the fulcrum must also be increased as well because you also increase the effort need to select your gears. The dumb part of it is when the length below the pivot is increased by a good bit and the fulcrum is shortened, extreme notchiness is the direct result. Also, these style STS contribute to synchro wear and eventually failure. Scatching gears recently?


Bigger injectors, fuel rail, and stronger fuel pump on a stock n/a motor doesn't equal a faster car. It means an overall slower car that's drinking more fuel due to the time the injectors are being left open with the factory settings. The factory parts have been painstakingly designed to produce enough power with plenty of room to adjust for failure. Your car can run rich on it's on if there's a problem. More fuel doesn't mean more power. More air + more fuel = more power. If you can increase the CFM (the flow of air) of your motor, you'll make more power. without having to increase injector or fuel pump size.

This is nothing but ignorant babble. There is NOTHING wrong with HID bulbs in halogen housings, your not gonna blind anyone its called adjust the beam downward. Many short throw shifters are designed specifically to increase shift feel so it doesnt feel like your controlling a slush box, so your point there is not valid either. And i like how you sit here trying to explain something you read about using big words to make yourself sound smart. Bigger injectors, fuel rail and stronger fuel pump are SUPPORTING MODS and they DO increase power, NA or FI. when is the last time you heard somebody tell you that they just got some high flow injectors, or a 255lph fuel pump and explained how much power it would make? probabley never, because it never happens. These are used to create power when extra fuel is needed. Dont sit here and tell people how they should be modding there car and try to support it with big words, you sound like an idiot. It makes sense though, cause usually dumb ass threads like this come from people who havent ever really modded a car and drive a raggedy as$ car themselves. like you. :2cents:

I disagree. All these HIDs in headlights not designed for them = unlawful for one and unthoughtful. What the hell is cool about putting them in a car not meant for them?

Do it right. It is dangerous and ANNOYING.

There is a reason the govt. mandates OEM HID is 4300k in a cerain headlight range. To be safe.

Thats not to say only expensive cars can have HID or do it right. The Ford Focus (last one) had HID avail in the Sony editon. The 1999-2003 ACura TL/CL headlights are stolen in 20 seconds b/c their cheap asses designed the headlights with one bolt and anyone can pop out the entire headlight.

What is worse is these big 4x4 trucks with 9k HIDs blinding the crap outta traffic.

Everyone that hates one Hid's in halogen headlights are anal pricks. It's not that big of a deal, cars with stock HID's blind as well. Especially those big ass escalades with the 6k's.

Looks like the only ignorant person here when it comes to this subject is you. Not only have I provided proof, but there's multiple articles that talk about this. Just because your car comes with projectors + HID's naturally leaves you ignorant to the subject of composite lensed headlights that were naturally designed for halogen. Nitro has discussed it, I've brought it up a few times. As far is aiming the lights downward, that's possible when you're running projectors. I think I mentioned that in one of my post in this thread, but that's only if you're running projectors. Actually, your whole arguement isn't so much as ignorance but rather stupidity. Had you have read either of my posts, I would've answered all your stupid remarks. I have quite a few years of automotive experience, I think I know what mods do for what individual purpose. But I can expect this type of commentary from a ricer fanboy anyways so in a way, I was expecting someone to come around and talk out of their a$s.
And as far as modding cars go, I have less of the stock parts on my car than you have aftermarket. There's not 1 bolt on my car that haven't been turned. Just because it "looks" ragedy doesn't mean it is.

I do agree w/ the lens dispersion pattern on HID Vs. Halogen there is a difference on what type of bulb and intensity of light going through them. I have had no problems w/ my Edelbrock STS for the 2 years I've had it and it wasn't expensive at all. . but I did make sure it egaged gears properly when I installed it.. As it was stated before, incorrect instillation can and will cause damage/problems

I can agree with everything you just said. I think I mentioned in my first post the words "If properly engineered" then an STS will last. Some makers of STS build it to where it only looks cool and haven't taken any time to work out all the bugs. In the process, too short of a throw would hurt synchros. I explained that as well.

Its funny you assume because i drive the car i do, thats all ive known. I have owned modified, and tuned more cars than you can even dream of. If you are trying to state that with a halogen designed headlamp that you cannot adjust your beam downward you are a complete asshat, because you CAN. No, they are not designed for those bulbs, but it does not make you a ricer for running them. I agree with alot of what your saying and alot of it i dont. My point in this argument is these things can be done safely, and you dont have to go out and blind traffic with HID's. It is possible in many vehicles to adjust the beam downward to offset the brighter lightsource.

I see which style headlights you're talking about. You're talking about the ones with the diamond reflective background. Those are in many ways like projectors and can be aimed downwards, but even then only some of them. The composite styles (the ones with the pattern etched on the lense) cannot. They spread light all over.

If you wanna get into an insulting "gorilla beats chest" arguement, do it somewhere else. I'm not about to argue any more with you.
